Don't worry bout the negatigers, here's the game analysis...

1. Patrick Peterson was the MVP on defense. Great game by him, he's going to be special.

2. Finally, finally, finally.... it's official: We have decent linebacker play at LSU.

3. Jefferson was very poised for someone only starting his third game. He wasn't great, but I wouldn't expect Crowton to put him bad positions (i.e. open up the playbook) this early in his career, and he and Les didn't. They put him in position to win the game, and he did. I was pleasantly surprised with his poise.

4. Defense gave up too many big plays in the first half. One came on an all-out blitz and we simply got burned. Nonetheless, third and long defense has to improve, as I'm sure it will in time. That said, the biggest criticism Tennessee fans had about Chavis was what they called "third and Chavis." This is really the only alarming thing I took from this game, our third down and 5+ on defense.

5. Husky Stadium is louder than Vaught-Hemingway. Their fans were really great in the stadium and made the atmosphere electric. I'm sold - there is no other stadium in the country with the unique feel that Husky Stadium has. The lake, the boats, it's pretty awesome. The overhanging roof really keeps the sound in and makes it sound really loud live in the stadium. The track sucks, though.

6. Is it possible UW is actually a decent/good team? I think Jake Locker is one of the Top3 QBs we will play all season, and I think Washington is one of the Top3 offenses we will see on our schedule this season.

7. Our punt protection scares me, as always.

8. We absolutely dominated the entire second half.

9. The pass interference call against us was ridiculous. We were out of position and got burned, though, so I guess we kind of deserved it. The roughing the passer with less than a minute to go was ticky-tack as well. IMO it was not roughing the passer.

10. Penalties: LSU 3-35, Washington 11-83 ... enough said. Penalties hurt us last year. To go on the road in the season opener in a pretty loud environment, face some definite adversity and only have 3 penalties, one of which was bogus is pretty impressive. I am going to go on a limb and say this will be the most disciplined team we have had at LSU this decade.

11. Total offensive plays... LSU 48, Washington 83. I'm amazed at this statistic. It's no wonder they outgained us in total yardage. Hell, they nearly had more pass attempts than we did TOTAL offensive plays.

12. The play of Chad Jones leaves a lot to be desired at this point. Let's hope he gets better. Fortunately for CJ and the rest of our defense, "tackling" is probably the easiest correction to make on defense. I'm sticking behind CJ because his potential is tremendous, but at this point in his career I am feeling a little let down.

13. We won the turnover battle!!! This and this alone is a Huuuuuuge improvement from last season.

14. Terrance Tolliver has finally arrived. I am sooo excited about this. 4 catches, 117 yards, 2 TDs, and some great open field jukes to create space. This is awesome news for LSU fans to have another stud receiver to complement Lafell this season.

15. Good "preseason" win a long way away from home. Now it's time to get into the groove, and eventually start to open up the playbook and start to unleash the potential of this offense. A few more warm-up games until we really get into the meat of our schedule.
