Is Miles perfect? No. But gee whiz.
You just can't reason with folks who think that if Miles would just leave, then boy oh boy!!
Bill Bilecek (sp, sorry) would race down to coach LSU,
Saban would move back as DC
Pete Carroll would want to be the OC
Spurrier would be hired as a QB coach....

We had a great run this decade. It was our decade. The next decade belongs to Bama and Florida. I think Saban is committed to Bama for at least 5-6 more years and they will be tough as nails as a result. Back to 8-4 or 9-3 for LSU. Get used to Orlando, Dallas, Tampa and Atlanta in the post season.
What a dumb fatalistic position.

Can you name the current SEC head coaches Les has a winning record against? Hint, there are only two.
Spurrier
Johnson

I'm not going to quote everything you just sayed....
But you are saying that Miles made OSU intimidating? No offense, but that is laughable. At the time Miles was there No one was shaking In their boots on a National Scale. Plus he did improve the program and then appeared to plateau. It took Gundy to bring it to excellence.

tigerinridgeland has hit the nail on the head. There are legitimate criticisms of Miles, but when you compare him to the other coaches at schools with similar resources and players, his record is as good as the others. Carrol, Richt, Brown, Tressel, and Stoops have faltered greatly in big games with the chance to win a national championship. Only one coach, Meyer, has more rings. Miles is 2 and 2 vs Meyer. Meyer has also lost games to teams that he should have beaten(all great coaches have). Saban is a good coach, but he is by no means infallible. He won a national championship here, but he did plenty of bone headed things also. Miles has recruited well. If he falters or decides to leave, we can get another coach who will also do a good job. But he won't be perfect either.

Add this to Miles' quiver of FIRSTS in LSU HISTORY:
LSU had never beaten all these teams in the same year:
Ole Miss
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Tennessee
Until Miles did it in 2007!
Geaux Miles!!!!!!!!!

Saban never lost more than 3 conference games. I could care less about being 20-0 out of conference except for the BCS championship, which you can't get to unless you win the SEC.
I am sure you are very knowledgeable about football, but do you really believe the fundamentals of a Miles coached team is better than a Saban coached team?

You are right about the record but Saban never had to start a Freshman Qb. Even Though he was real bad at times He had Randell when Russel was a freshman and got overwelmed. Last year there was no one to turn to. I wish he would have gone to JJ sooner but I understand why he didn't.

tubucoco... make up your mind. Saban's spartans did play LSU and lost.
your 'whatifsports' proposal for 'LSU' v. saban's spartans came true.
LSU beat saban's spartans at the independence bowl 45 - 26

and here is some more facts. I don't have a problem with the fact sheet you have but there is a very very big difference in the level of talent that miles inhrerted when he came to LSU. In Sabans defense and the rest of the coaches they didn't have that to start with. You can say it anyway you want Saban built a powerhouse at LSU when he left and Miles won with it.Not taking anything away from Miles because even if you have a great team it takes a good coach to lead them. The facts don't always tell the whole story.

Add the fact that when Saban was at LSU he never played a Florida coached by Urban Meyer (instead he got to coach against Zook), Alabama was coached by, ahem, Franchone, who flamed out at A&M, and then Shula (and we know how that worked out), he played Richt 3 times, (losing once and winning 2x in the same year); he lost a West Division championship to Arkansas in game that was all but won, lost every game played at Auburn (2-3 record overall), barely beat a weak Kentucky team with a miracle (coached by Guy Morriss, now not a head coach in college).
Overall the coaching has stepped a notch since Saban was at LSU. And he lost 4 conference games in 2008 at Alabama, including a loss to Mississippi State. And his bowl record at LSU was mediocre, 3-2. It hasn't been better at Bama, losing to Utah in a very embarrassing way (got spanked). He barely beat a not very good Oregon State team in his first game after winning the NC (and it was because a very reliable kicker had an off night), and everyone was howling. How short are our memories?
Despite all of that, I think Saban is very good coach. But if posters are going to harp on every weakness of Miles, Saban has his own bevy of weak spots too. ((As does Stoops, Carroll, Tressel, etc.) Let's not look through rose colored glasses. Miles isn't perfect, but the fact remains, he has the best record over his tenure at LSU of any coach in our history. The season is one game old; much to early for the gloom and doom. Are there concerns? Certainly. Is there reason to panic. Not yet.
I think that Miles' problem is that he has a different personality that some of the other coaches and the media has been able to paint a caricature. Unfortunately, some our own fans fall for the caraciture, like the "gambling," unreasonable risk taker, that is patently not the case if one simply looks at the cases with some discernment. He isn't a bumbler or an idiot with a talented team. He is an excellent coach, smart and an outstanding recruiter. His record demonstrates it. He has one of the top records in the nation in college football, and that isn't because of good luck.

You will get no argument from me about mile having talent, and Saban did not inherit the type of talent Miles Did but he did have Talent. I said in a late post that Saban brought our program back there is no dening this, but its time for the Rantards to get a grip and admit we have a Damn good Coach and stop with the drama! Some one also state saban never had a losing record in the west, which is true but it had been since the 80's since we had a freshman qb start for us besides russel(but he had Randle to fall back on, not much but still a verteran)

Although I think we are going to get on the right track I just think Malveto did more harm to the squad than we anticipated. The Defense was there to make a play it was just that they could not wrap. If they would have made the tackles that first scoring drive would not have occurred.
Yep.
