Is it not possible to contact the school to find out exactly where grades are so the player doesn't mislead or anything? I guess that could be abused though.

Miles has been pretty good about this actually. I blame the compliance department (or whoever is in charge at LSU at making sure players take the necessary courses) for Pratt and Loadholt.
Lacy wasn't offered for a plethora of reasons. Sentimore was offered in January and LSU definitely gave him something to think about in the last few weeks before NSD. That was a case of a talented player being overlooked because of bigger names (Campbell, McFarland), until he really stepped it up in his senior season, especially in the playoffs.
Bajoie and Wilson, along with Willie Ferrell, all had their offers revoked and were not factors in the staff missing out on guys.
As for DeAndre Brown, it's a little confusing, but I think that USM managed to convince Brown that he could come to them as a partial qualifier. That's of course a complete lie since they are not in D-2, but I guess the truth is not as important as what a player believes is the truth.
The only glaring mistake was with Dez Bryant over Benton.
