an improvement over the 300 in the first half, but i think most fans would be mad that we allowed 340 yards of total offense

Yeah, but up until Washington's last drive it was only about a 100 yards.

170+ in the 2nd half is misleading because 81 of those yards was on the last drive when the game was over. I am not excusing the yards and we shouldn't let up ever, but nevertheless, we held them in check for most of the second half.

Would it have been nice to stop it yes, but the game was over and it was a trash TD. Defense was sucking wind anyway having been on the field almost the entire game

On the last drive they were playing soft to make UW eat the clock and to avoid giving up the big play. They were just locking up the W. It looks bad on the stat sheet, but I won't criticize them on that one.

When Saban was here we used to give up less than 250 yds a game

As far as i'm concerned the D only gave up 3 points in the 2nd half and about 90 yards. That last drive we were in "this game is over, just keep them in bounds" mode.

If we can get the defense from the 2nd half to show up we'll win 10 games this year. If not..

And somehow we still never had back-to-back 10-win seasons.

dude that sums our miles' philosophy

"as long as we're up, we're OK"

he plays to keep teams close, and we don't play with emotion

Sums up the entire defense, and the offensive line.

Good point, SFP.

Saban couldn't even do it even when we gave him an extra game.

Is this Miles or Saban you are talking about?

Look we played a team with a new offensive coordinator. He clearly did some things we were not prepared for. We adjusted at half time. If you take away the last drive (when we were sitting back to prevent big plays to secure the W) they only had 100 yards. As for 3rd down conversions, they adjusted as well. I seem to recall them being 8 out of 10 in 3rd down conversions at one point. As they finished 11 of 19, they went 3 of 9 the rest of the game (and I think they got a couple of those in that last drive).

It was not a great performance, but there is reason for hope.
