I hate all this blue turf bs. That shite is ugly. Just to stick it to all the flammers that talk about how awesome it is we should have a bright yellow field with purple tiger stripes.

/sarcasm

But seriously, the blue turf is horrible.

We could get white turf to match our all white jerseys

I have kinda felt we should get field turf but I don't know how hot it would be on the field. It would play to our advantage but it maybe be 110-115 degrees on the field with that stuff in tiger stadium

Agreed. You can't tell the difference between the player and the field.

And Oregon's wing jerseys match well with the ugliness of the field.

I play on a turf field for STM. It is miserable in the middle of the day practicing.

The fact that the same home team matches their damn uniform with that dreaded blue surface just reaks of self importance and borders on unfair. I can't even make out half the players in HD.

Could ya'll quit whining. You're making my ears hurt. Who gives a shite about the damn turf? It's their thing, let it go. Not like we have to play on it.

actually, i really do think it is an unfair advantage for them. the NCAA needs to make a rule on this. boise st can be grandfathere in until the turf needs to be replaced.

There is actually a rule in the NCAA rulebook that says that Boise State is the only team that can have any turf color other than green.

and lsu is one of the only schools allowed to have 'H' style goal posts, and be painted white.

visiting teams wouldnt be used to playing on a blue turf which i would guess would cause distortion..if we can barely see them on tv, just think how hard the players can see them. Blue, blurry players moving on a blue field..

because they have the ability to get accustomed to a very VERY odd distracting color.

there are home field advantages of many types, but this one is over the top in my opinion.

and even if it isnt.. i still think it needs to be outlawed. hypothetically we could have stadiums popping up with red turf, orange turf, purple turf, etc.

NCAA has many regulations on their fields. they should just add one more that the playing surface - if artificial - needs to be within a certain range of green colors

Exactly...this is being way overblown. If anyone seriously thinks the blue uniforms are camouflaging the players with the turf, he/she is a moron. Oregon's players aren't looking from above like you are when you watch on TV.

If you have ever played sports, then you know field perception is WAY different from th press box view.

The Oregon players are seeing blue players moving very fast on a blue field.

Not Fair.

So why is it different if a team that wears green plays on green turf?

Green is a normal color that the players are used to playing on.

Teams who rarely play on a blue field are not used to the visual.

I'll be honest, it's been a looooonnng time since I played football, and admittedly I never played on blue turf...but I just don't see it being an advantage/distraction.
