Okie writer takes shot at SEC and says everyone hates LSU

SEC Envy & LSU hate all in one place!

Southeastern Conference squads count down notable non-conference wins with a league-pride chorus. "SEC! SEC! SEC!” is their equivalent of Red Auerbach’s victory cigar.
They do this for the simplest of reasons. Those fans are like Granny Clampett; they’re still fighting the Civil War.
When Southern Cal dismantles Ohio State, you don’t hear "Pac-10! Pac-10!” coming from the Troy bleachers. When Michigan beat Notre Dame, the Wolverines don’t cry "Big Ten! Big Ten!,” they sing "Hail to the Victors.” When Texas counts down a bowl success, there is no "Big 12! Big 12! Big 12!” salute.
But be it Georgia or LSU, Florida or Alabama, "SEC! SEC! SEC!” rings throughout the stadium after one of that league’s many powers claims victory.

Actually, the SEC chant has its charms. Florida hates Georgia, Georgia hates Auburn, Auburn hates Alabama, Alabama hates Tennessee and everybody hates LSU. But those feelings are put aside in the chant.

it was an oklahoma (the state) sports writer. they write about both schools

Since 2003, all these conferences combined have less number of BCS titles than the SEC.
What's wrong in conference pride anyways?

He does have a point. I usually root for SEC teams too, but SEC fans really are the only ones to do this. And I dont know why.

LSU fans don't do the SEC chant, to my knowledge.
and thank goodness.
I did, however, hear it briefly in the stands at the 2007 BCS title game from a small group of sloped-foreheaded Cretins.
That's the only time I've heard it from LSU fans other than that 1997 (?) CWS where 4 SEC West teams made it to Omaha.

The only reason this happens is because fans of every conference like to spew out claims that the SEC is "overrated"! Consequently, when the SEC wins these high profile games or pulls out 4 of the last 6 national champions, most feel (like i do) the urge to rub that back in the collective faces to say....
"don't think it looks overrated...do you?"
