Best Way to Counter Offer

So if you are offered a job making say 58k, what would be the best way to counter the offer? Should you tell them that someone else offered you a job making 63k?

What kind of job is it? If its your first job out of college most companies won't give you a counter offer. it is what it is. DONT lie about another company giving you an offer, they will probably check.

I personally think this is a terrible strategy because you stand the chance of telling you to go with the other offer.
You should probably try to stress how much you want to work for them and go over the qualifications and strengths you would bring to their organization and tell them what you believe that is worth.
