Seeing how we (and all other schools) go after a pass-TE and a block-TE....how sought after is the big blocking TE that can catch and run?

I saw Nick Jacobs' footage and he can go out there and catch. So if he can do both and 80% imitate R. Dickson out in the flat...that is something to gameplan for because you don't know what Jacobs is going to do.

When Dickson comes out, opposing coaches know there could be a TE pass.....except for Ohio State. They didn't know what he was doing.

But if Jacobs can evolve like a....say Xavier Grimble COULD be... then opposing coaches won't know if the play is running or passing.

Hope this theory doesn't get scrapped if Miles switches him to OT or DE.

Between Nick Jacobs and Travis Dickson, someone will carry the torch (after Richard Dickson and Deangelo Peterson).

Jacobs is a great recruit because he could play TE, DE, OT, etc, not in spite of it.

There is a reason I've been so high on Jacobs on here. He is much more athletic than someone like Mitch Joseph is. We are set at TE for the future with him and Dickson. No way should we sign a TE next year.

I agree...I think Jacobs is way underrated. I remember way back he was on the 2010 Rivals 250 Watch List then ended up a 5.6 three star. People were talking about how he had iron hands and could not hold a ball. I don't see how he could be a good starting basketball player and have bad hands.

Another thing is. Who knows if a high school TE is a pass catching TE. Most high school quarterbacks can't throw well enough or the school doesn't throw the ball enough to determine that. Nick may have some great hands, Many High may just have some bad QB's.

I don't know if playing basketball means his hands are good (not saying his hands aren't) but I know it usually has a positive impact on footwork, so that is definitely a plus.

Just imagine the Rec B-Ball team we could have in a few years with Justin Hunter, Nick Jacobs, Evan Washington, and Trovon Reed.

I've got one better than that. He was on the ESPN 150 watch list (at the time it had 270 players on it}. Then they whittled it down to 150 and he is now rated a 40. Uhhhhhhh, how do you go from a Top 270 list down to essentially a sleeper when the guy hasn't played 1 game since the rating changed?

that means they have not been able to further evaluate him. He didn't necessarily start out as a top 270 guy, he started out as a guy they had heard good things about, and once evaluated could be top 150. The top 150 watch list that he was on is based completely on hype and not on evaluation. His rating is based mostly on evaluation. They probably don't have any film to go off of to rate him appropriately.

Ive seen the film on rivals and i cannot evaluate him either.

hes either running a 10 yd curl and being tackled immediately after or catching the ball on the sideline where you cant see him behind the guys on the sideline.

i didnt see much that would warrant a high rating.

his evaluation will come from this season. maybe there will be more passes thrown his way this year.

I said the same thing on another site the other day. Jacobs looks like a great athlete. Scout has him as the 12th best TE in the country. The other 11 ahead of him must be hosses.
