Because we've also got home and home contracts with Navy and Army. You throw in a "money" game and a rent-a-win and there's just no room for a ULM game that would benefit them more than Tech.

I do find it funny that someone could think ANYONE would be scared of ULM.

Tech's elitist attitude is the funniest shite ever imo.

It's the same reason Bama won't play Southern Mississippi anymore. It isn't that they fear USM; it's that they fear that they might lose one of ten and it would end the world.

For a long time LSU would never play an in-state school not because they were afraid of them, but because they were afraid of the one time they might lose.

Tech has the same fear of ULM, and it's a shame because Tech isn't really big enough to think that way.

Seriously. And when your avatar is a picture of your fricking ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, that means you've got nothing.

LSU: Our football team kicks arse, and we're baseball national champs and basketball SEC champs!
Florida: We just won a national title, and we may do it again this year!
North Carolina: We OWN March Madness!
Louisiana Tech: Dooley has us going in a really good direction.

It will amount to NOTHING but a better job for Dooley.

2nd funniest thing is Tech fans ACTUALLY believe Dooley will stay because he gets to be the AD and Head football coach.

It's not elitism. It is trying to do what is best in the long run for the school and the athletic program as a whole.

Financally, even if ULM broght alot of fans, it still would not have the economic impact in the long run that building relationships with other regional schools will. What I mean by that is, playing an away game @ USM, Houston, SMU, etc, pays more to the program than playing @ ULM would.

It is good economics. It may not be what everyone wants right now, (I would persoally love to see Tech and ULM play) but this is the path Dooley has chosen. (and before you say it..it doesn't matter how long he is in Ruston. He is there now...)

You're too deep into it to even see it. EVERYONE outside of Ruston/Tech sees this attitude and laughs at you. XIV, remember that song they used to play on 102 when Tech went up to 1A and Houston beat them 70-0? Talked about how they thought they were better than everyone else and how funny it was that they got their shite handed to them EVERY game.

But, add back in say 15k for a "good" attendance home game and you don't get to an avg of 15k for the year. It looks like the Ark game saved their average.

Oh and just to weigh in, I think BOTH of them are "too big for their britches". ULM should be in 1AA and Tech should not be in the WAC. It destroys the rest of their athletic department with all of the travel.

Not really. I am fully aware of where Tech is right now. But to say that because they want to try a differnet path than what has failed before is not elitism.

My question to you is this. If the situations were reversed, and ULM was in a situation to help Tech, would they? I doubt it, because why fund your competition? I would not expect them to.

They are still competing for the same fan base, and that base is very limited in the first place. Why put a school that has not had the success on the field on a level playing field if it can be avoided? Granted, neither school has had consistent success, but Tech does have 3 bowl appearances since moving to 1A. That is nothing to write home about, but still better than nothing.

Tech has tried and tried to make it clear that ULM isn't their competition. Dooley himself has said that ULM is beneath him and his program.

Agreed...that is why they are trying to move the program forward. They are catching heat because they have ambition, and don't want to settle for the Belt. That may be where they belong, but why not make every effort to get in a better home?

Coachspeak...realists know they are competing for the VERY limited entertainment dollars in that market.

It's good to see that ULM is tackling the touch issues of spelling and homophones in their English classes.
