Hey, Husky fan here, looking forward to see a big time SEC team waltz into Husky Stadium. Love the SEC, love the style of football. I hate it that we have to start of this new season getting stomped by what should be a much better LSU team(I'm thinking 10-11 wins?) than last year.
I think you guys have a great new coordinator in Chavis. I always loved his schemes at Tennessee, I think his units slipped a bit later on at Tennessee because the players there got a lot lazier over the past couple years and the talent dipped a little(speedwise). They still had some pretty solid units. His style fits with LSU's talent and physicality.
I don't think the game up here needs a lot of breaking down. The Huskies defense is small and lacking in depth. If LSU's o line is anything like every LSU line I've seen for the past fifteen years, they are going to run all over that Huskies defense. We've got real good linebackers, but the guards and tackles will be all over them. Our secondary is talented, but raw. Our offense might score a little, I don't know. I'm just hoping for a game a little closer than Oklahoma last year(55-14, 41-0 halftime). Then again, we actually have a living head coach instead of a corpse.
I wish you guys the best of luck on the season, and I'm rooting for you guys to win the whole thing( let me know if thats logica), Not a Urban Meyer fan, go kill Florida.
Tell me about your qb, I missed your bowl game.

soph. can scramble. pretty accurate. plenty of weapons (the tight end being his best, imo). only downfall is experience (obviously) and a very long delivery (and for those of you who are gonna say that they changed it, bullshite. i saw him throw this morning).
good luck zem.

What a change from VT and Appy st. both crowing about winning for months, only to get crushed.
I think Locker gives us fits

Let me sum up the responses you're about to receive from the tards here due to the fact you've come in good graces.
"Hey, thanks for saying good things about us. Your Washington team had a bad year, but will assuredly rebound in due time. Stay around for a while on the board. Better yet, come party with us and eat some of our food. We're really nice people."
Now, send something negative about the Tigers and see the real Tiger faithful mentality. They eat their own on this board.

No trash talk here, I have no beef with LSU, I actually like them, the Huskies haven't been to a bowl game in 7 years, I have to go elsewhere to watch good football. Your win over Florida in 97 won me over.
Locker is a great athlete, he's getting better as a passer, if this game was next year, or later in the season, I'd be more confident.

Hey Zem,
How dose Washington have only one Sr WR, and the rest FR?? thats gotta sux. I also notice there's 8 Freshman starters this year.

Yeah, zem,it will be fun just getting to Sept 5th right now.I think your assessment is about right. I think the game will come down to our offensive line just dominating Washington. I just don't think your Huskies will be able to stop our run game when Scott is healthy. You have a chance if there's alot of turnovers, but slim, considering our Defense will be improved and I feel Locker won't have time in the pocket. Good luck to you guys after Sept 5,I reall mean that!

Zem, I looked at UW's schedule yesterday and it's pretty tough. I think 4-8 would be a solid season. I think ya'll should beat Wash State and Idaho, and anything other than that would likely be an upset. Thoughts?

What kind of offense will you all be running this year with the new coach? More of a spread/option or a traditional one?

I lived up your way when Sonny Sixkiller was the UW QB. A few years back. Anyway, I can't wait till your program gets strong enough to start knocking off 'SC. Until then, here's to a Tiger win on 9/5.

Jesus H Christ...I can't believe I never noticed the block that Quinn laid on that guy at the 2:13 mark. He detonated that guy.

Welcome. I cannot wait to get up to Seattle, I here here Husky Stadium is in an amazing setting.
Our QB is a true Soph who only had two starts last year in the last two games of the year vs. Ark and GT. He also saw some PT vs. Ole Miss in the 3rd to last game of the year. He looks like a Vince Young but isn't the runner that VY was, although he is mobile and can make plays with his feet when he needs to. He showed great progress in the bowl game in only his 2nd start (the stat line doesn't reflect a beautiful 89 yard TD strike called back on a penalty). He also has looked to be much improved in spring and fall practices. Bottom line is that whether he becomes a "great" QB or simply a game manager isn't a make or break for us due to all the talent we have around him and our much improved defense. If we had a QB last year that simply took care of the ball and made a play from time to time you would be talking about an 10-3 team instead of 8-5 (we pissed away games vs. Bama and Ark)...Jefferson can do that for us and probably a lot more.

If we go 4-8, I'm happy, and as a fan who grew up with the teams of the 80's and early 90's, I feel sick saying that. I've never been happy with 4-8.
The issue with the wide receivers is simple, Willingham did not recruit, at all, until 2008, his 2008 recruiting class was legit. The 2007 and 2006 classes are nonexistant, I honestly don't know where they are. He relied alot on JC guys and they never cleared. Last year, most of the kids playing were freshmen, this year, the majority of players will be sophomores.
From what I saw during the Spring game, this offense is very similar to USC's, a very pro style offense. It requires Locker to be under center a lot, which is a change because they had him out of the shotgun with their awful spread option they ran last year. Lots of sweeps, tosses, stretch plays, the scheme relies a lot on the mobility of the offensive line and precise routes from the receivers(which is a foreign concept to them).
I'm going to catch a couple practices next week, see how much more they've added in. You want to see what UW will run, plug in a USC tape last year, and imagine the players being less talented and the execution not nearly as precise.
