Getting depressed reading the thread about the worst games at T.S. (and I was in the stands for a good many of them). I know this has been done many times on TD, but once more to motivate the troops.

My list:

1961. LSU 10 - Ole Miss 3 Ole Miss came into this game undefeated and the presumptive #1 team in the nation. (Actually ranked #2, but #1 Michigan State had lost an early afternoon game – an Ole Miss win against the #6 ranked Tigers would certainly propel them to the #1 ranking.).

1969. LSU 21 - Auburn 20. LSU scored on first play from scrimmage. Pat Sullivan kept Auburn in game. Auburn scored late in 4th quarter xp to tie - LSU blocked it.

1971. LSU 28 - Notre Dame 8 6-3 Tigers dominated 8-1 #7 ND all evening. Game not nearly as the score indicates.

1972 LSU 17 - Ole Miss 16 Not sure this game really belongs on this list, but it is the famous "one second" game. #7 6-0 LSU was heavily favored over 4-3 Ole Miss. Bert Jones and Brad Davis pulled it out for the Tigers.

1982. LSU 55 - Florida State 21 The famous orange rain at TS.

1986. LSU 35 - Texas A&M 17 Tommy Hodson's first game. Tigers defeated a heavily favored Aggie team on national tv.

I know there are many more recent great games in TS, but thought I'd start it off with some from the past that I had the pleasure to attend.

The Bring Back the Magic Game will always be my favorite. Maybe you had to be there, but it was great to just have hope. What a fun game.

1995 vs Auburn was phenomenal. People often forget that Gerry Dinardo was the first step in the long process of bringing LSU back to national prominence. Just thinking about Twillie's pick to ice the victory gives me chills.

1997 vs UF, obviously.

1999 vs Arkansas was very fun.

2000 vs Tennessee.

2000 vs Bama (the replay game).

2003 vs UGA.

2007 vs UF.

To name a few.

How about LSU vs Ole Piss in 2006? My wife and I ended up going to the game at the last minute and what should have been an arse-whipping was a nailbiter til the end. Not an overly pretty game, but one I am glad I went to.

Va Tech 2007.
May be the best game an LSU team played in TS.
Crowd was deafening. Only time I have ever seen a coach have to call consecutive time outs due to crowd noise. After Blacksburg 2002 it was awesome.

I'll keep it old school and give some underrated games, so that I do not add on to the 100 plus posts I am sure I have made that have '97 FLA, '00 UT, and '03 UGA on it.

1986 Notre Dame - Tigers struck early, but so did ND, as Tim Brown ran back the ensueing kickoff 100 yards. The greatest gaolline stand in TS history, arguably, occured that night. LSU won and got assurance that there would indeed be Sugar on NYE.

1993 Ole Miss - A 3-5 and already counted out LSU squad played host, on a painfully cold night, to Ole Miss - a team already going bowling. The Tigers were heavy underdogs and the Rebel option attack was striking early, but so did the Tigers. Jay Johnson, one of Hallman's "Fab 5", rushed for over 120 yards. Brett Bech and Scott Ray, along with Chad Loup, gave the Tigers a balanced offense and at times, shredded the Rebel D. Johnson, however, scored the go ahead TD late in the 4th. Ole Miss moved the ball down the field and set up for a GW FG with no time left...wide left. The Tigers won what seemed like a meaningless game...until the next week when pigs most certainly flew.

1996 Houston - The first game to come after a winning season, and a bowl win with it since 1987, Tiger Stadium was pumped to the max. Houston was not going to be a pushover. Ahmmad Green and the Cougars got up to a 34-14 lead and all hope seemed lost. The remaining faithful who stayed would be in store for a treat. Kevin Faulk ran a punt back and would go on to rush for over 200 and Rondell Mealey would quickly become a household name as the Tigers extended their winning streak to 5 games dating back to last season. The 35-34 win would be the first of ten - also the first double-digit win season also since 1987.

1998 Georgia - Can also go under "most heartbreaking games in TS", but it was still one that I won't forget. Quincy Carter and Champ Bailey vs. Herb Tyler and Kevin Faulk. Tied at half, the game was back and forth. Georgia drew first and last blood and edged LSU by a point. Carter might have made the greatest impression in Tiger Stadium history as an opposing QB, as he was nearly perfect. Bailey was as menacing on both sides of the ball as Charles Woodson. The Tigers would go on to lose 7 of their next 8; previously being ranked 6th in the AP poll before the loss.

He is my uncle. He still has a show on the weekend I think and he's still wired into LSU more than any human being in the history of the world. I haven't asked yet, but I'll probably be at the family tailgate for Vanderbilt.

He doesn't just have encyclopedic knowledge of LSU sports, he's a really cool guy. And I'm not saying that just because we're related. Besides, one of his favorite activities (other than playing with his grandkid) is giving my mom a hard time.
