I liked it. Not the best war movie, and probably could have been better. But it's worth a gander.

Please tell me its better than Alexander

It was a bit long and dragged in parts. Not terrible but I thought it was pretty meh for a big budget big screen adaptation of one of the most famous stories ever.

It's decent. I do find it funny though how during a huge battle everyone stops fighting and watches "Achilles" and Hector duke it out.

better than Alexander, worse than Gladiator..

Has one of the best gaffes of all time for any movie.
spoiler
The armada attacks from the west at dawn...and the sun rises behind their backs.

definitely better than that POS Alexander...it's not bad, but could have been better

I liked it. But a lot of people on here didn't.
It's cool for what it is...a Hollywood adaptation of a classic story. If you go in there trying to make sure it sticks to historical accuracy, you're gonna be kinda disappointed.

I liked it, very good. Hector vs Achilles was very well done.
The contrast between the two was very well played out also.
If you keep a track of who Achillies kill and then keep a track of who Hector kills. You will see the difference in their ability and the sharp contrast between the two.

I like Troy, but I would have liked it better if it had accentuated the major purpose of The Iliad.
That is, the contrast between Achilles killing Hector and the trojan horse.
The Greek "moral" of The Iliad has always been that Achilles gave into and was weakened by his actions when he killed Hector and desecrated the corpse (considered equal to or worse than than murder in this culture), because brute strength and endurance are not the prevailing virtues of civilized Greek society. The Trojan horse demonstrates that intelligence and guile are the true virtues that are victorious in the end.
This movie tried to portray both Hector's defeat and the Trojan Horse as showings of brute force.
It's a damn blockbuster movie, and it's more about Brad Pitt slicing people up than trying to have any kind of deeper meaning, but this is still something I am a bit disappointed by.
