I'm told the first game I went to was LSU-Bama 82 at Legion when we beat Bryant on his last season. I was about 18 months old.

My niece is 12 and hasn't missed a home game since she was 3. She knows more about football than 1/2 the adults that sit around us.

She is the greatest Tiger Fan ever.

Start 'em early!

My son will be two at the end of August and while he already absolutely loves watching parts of LSU on TV, be it live or a DVD, I won't bring him to his first game till at least 5, at an absolute minimum. Just doesn't have the attention span for it right now to watch an entire game and the loud noises might scare a kid that young. Plus, they'll never remember it. More 'fulfilling' imo to wait till they are older.

As an aside, I have to take this chance to brag! My son's first word was 'ball' ( followed by 'dada' )! He somehow developed this crazy love for baseball I guess by watching my youngest brother play ( at games, he started yelling "I pitch, I pitch" when my brother was on the mound ). He spends most of his time divided by either walking around swinging his bat going 'boom', then running around, finishing with a 'slide' or throwing a ball ( he wants to play catch but he's still a bit too young to work his lil' glove ). Other than that, its either his books or his blocks, but most of the time, he's all baseball! Man I love that kid!

What is truly unfortuante is that his ticket will cost the same as yours and 4 hours is a long time for a kid to sit.

Took my 2 yr old to the ASU game in 05 and sat next to the band. He did fine, even though it was hot as frick. Tiger Stadium is louder, but the kid should be fine.

Be a true Tiger Dad.....Take him!!

Took my daughter to her first game when she was 3. Bring some things for them to play with and most kids will be fine through halftime (my daughter likes the halftime shows). As long as it's a night game, they don't typically care about the heat like adults do. Most, but not all, will be toast by the start of the 2nd half. My wife is a trooper and took her home when she pooped out. At 5 she stays for the essentially the whole game.

Oh, and you'll find that there are a lot more little ones at the "ooooh-la-la" type games, and if you're lucky, you'll have someone close enough for your kid to play with during the game.

Hardest part for me when we bring her is keeping my mouth shut....

I took my daughter who had just made 3 last year to the Tulane game. She had a blast. Security let me bring a back pack in with wipes, diapers, etc.

As long as you aren't sitting in or near the student section the kids will have fun. (earmuffs the entire game is no fun for you either) We went back the next morning so she could see Mike in the habitat. She asks me often when we can go back.

I wouldn't take a kid to TS until he could watch a full game on tv with me and understand what's going on.

My advice. Bring lots of things to keep him busy and be prepared to leave early. Kids that age have less than an hour attention span and will get restless as soon as they are bored. Restless kids are miserable.

I took my two oldest daughters (ages 5 and 7 at the time) to the MSU game last year. They never complained about the walking, the heat, or anything. I was worried about the bathroom situation most of all because they are too old to go in the mens room now, but things went fine. The only complaint I heard the whole day was when we were leaving with about 4 minutes left in the game. My oldest was not happy we were leaving before the clock hit triple zero, and she let me know. We had a great time, and the people around us were really respectful of them and their language. I have told them we would go back this year, hopefully to 2 or 3 games if we can get tickets.

We took our daughter to her first game when she was about 2. Of course she doesn't remember it, but we had a blast.

I remember my first game when I was around 5-6, and do remember some of the game.

Enjoy with your son.

Gotta know your kid. I took my daughter to her first game at 3 and she has been to at least one game a year since (she's now 7). Worked out beautifully every time, although I remember once not being able to bring a small backpack into the stadium and it had all the kid stuff in it. That was a bit of a pain. Might want to call ahead to see what you can bring. But in any event, it was a very positive experience.

HOWEVER, I now have a 2 year old son who is so not ready for prime time that it ain't even funny! I love the kid but he won't get within a country mile of Tiger Stadium until his behavior and attention span improve.

I have been taking my three kids for about 5 years. I started the youngest, my son, when he was 5 and even this he was a little young. The difficult thing is they are more interested in getting cokes and eating popcorn than watching the game.

I do think it is a good call to go to a 'lesser' game like ULL. In fact, that is the game we are going to this year. It is good to go to a game you wouldn't mind walking out on at halftime or in the 3rd or 4th quarter if the little ones get restless.

Anyway, I suggest you start them at 5 or whenever they seem to get a true interest. My 13 year old daughter is a die-hard Tiger fan which is difficult since we live in Texas around all these crazy UT fans.

PS. You know your child has arrived when they start saying "Scoreboard" to all the UT fans. Love it! Geaux Tigers!

I'll link this blog I wrote about my experience if that's ok. It was ROUGH...but in my case he had never been to a game before, so it was a bit of a shock.

Probably not. He is too young to truly enjoy it and IF he gets miserable....everyone around you will suffer until you leave.

Wait until he has a chance of actually getting something out of the experience. I applaud your involvement with him, etc...just not really the best situation IMO

I took my son to the Arkansas game when he was three. It just happened to be the triple overtime loss. He watched the entire game with his LSU helmet on, and then cried at the end cause we lost. I've never been prouder.

I'm laughing ...that was my daughter's first game .. UT 2005 .. HOT AS HELL ... she was 3 ... drunk man behind us fell on top of HER AND ME and we both went almost to the bottom of the upper south endzone. Not pretty ... he was only trying to say hello as he'd met our boys but not her. He was also very concerned with how we made out as we were in the path of Rita.

Anyway, she still LOVES to watch football on tv and GO to basketball/baseball games but I think she's done with football ... at least until big brother graduates and she can then use our 4th ticket! It'll be cheaper to bring her than to pay a babysitter!

I'm toying with the idea of taking my 2 yr old (3 in November) to his first LSU football game when we play ULL. He's been to most of the baseball games this past year, but I know there is a HUGE difference between The Box and Tiger Stadium. Can anyone with any experience tell me if this is a good idea?

What happens if you get to drunk and trade him for a nice cold beer, u know the one where the can turns blue when it's nice and cold, those are good. You know what screw it take him.

be ready to leave in the 3rd quarter, but it should be pretty tame as long as he's cool with loud noises. I didn't go unti lI was 5, and could stay interested.
