Seems like you have forgotten how we dominated them in baseball for several years...no we don't have 6 national championships, but I don't think your analogy really means anything.

This title implies that Gamecocks wish they were LSU fans when in fact they were simply saying how nice it must be to have that whole area to yourself as compared to SC having 7 BCS schools to compete with in SC, GA, and NC.

nice how you conveniently say we have our area to ourselves and you have to compete with 7 BCS schools in 3 different states. Don't we have to compete with Texas, TAMU, Ole Miss, Miss St, Auburn, Alabama or are they not as up to par recruiting wise as the likes of NC State, wake, UNC, etc

I will say this, though, overall I wouldn't trade LSU's athletic success for USC's academic progress over the past couple of decades. LSU was the first place I interviewed for a faculty job coming out of grad school. Had I gotten it, I would have looked at it as a stepping stone.

surely they dont believe this?...shite id trade about 5-10 spots in public school rankings to get a few national titles

weak athletic programs do have a tendency to beat the academic drumb...hell the entire big 19 does it

And I remember listening to an SC announcer in 2004 when we played them near the end of the year. They were saying how other schools have become competitive, and LSU will never be able to just dominate again. They said the hayday was over.

Hmmmmmm.....

Don't forget ULL, Tulane, UNO, and USM. All mid major schools that have been to Omaha before.

I worked @ Spartanburg Regional next to Woffard and Converse and USC Spartanburg and I did not encounter any of these "intellectuals" they seem to brag about.

I'm pretty sure South Carolina has one national championship in women's track.

Regarding the topic, there is absolutely no question LSU has a recruiting advantage over South Carolina.

Everyone has competition, but some have an easier time then others. Of course LSU has out of state recruits and other teams have players from LA, but the fact that LSU gets its pick of the litter in the New Orleans / Baton Rouge area isnt something SC has. There is no specific area full of football talent that SC just has to itself like LSU does.

There is no doubt that winning an NC is a great accomplishment and it takes a great team to win it in college baseball just the way the format to get to the championship is set up. But 1 title since 2000 doesn't constitute as being dominate and in your hayday again. It's like when people say UF will never dominate the SEC the way it did while Spurrier was at the helm. Well here they are 2 NCs later but does anyone consider them as dominate as they used to be?

USCeast did make the national title game in 2002. losing to Texas.

Outside of that, they're best known for having Spurrier as a head football coach and having a QB that got laid out by a ref.

Oh I dont, we have had talented teams in both baseball and football.. our baseball team probably overachieved compared to what the preseason expectations were like, but to get on a hot streak near the end of the year and to lose to ECU the way we did in the regional were very upsetting and called for the head of our pitching coach.

The last year they had a 1-game format for the national championship.

Hey Lebron James has been laid out by a ref before? And that ref played at UK back in the day and the LSU-SC game was a week after Garcia took control and won the UK game for us in Lexingtong.. he was just pissed.

SEC now > SEC 90's

They aren't as 'dominant' in terms of wins and losses but I would say they are better now than they were then.

LSU is a better academic school than USC from the rankings I saw

i was wondering. besides clemson, who does USC lose recruits to the most? UGA?
