currently watching this movie and I've got to say it's a lot better than I was thinking it would be. I assumed it'd just be a crappy sequal, but this is almost better than the first.
Thoughts/opinions?

A very solid sequel.
Some great scenes, the characters are a bit thin mostly, I would watch a third.

Yeah I thought it was pretty solid. I thought the first was far superior, but I'm also a big Danny Boyle fan.

Great movie. I am looking forward to the third one.

Great intro. Great production values. But just fell flat I thought. The Canary Wharf part was particularly nonsensical.

It is a very good sequel. Not at all better than the first. The first is, IMO one of the best 'zombie movies' ever created. But this one is very good.

The first 15 minutes of that movie is my favorite horror movie scene of all time. The rest of the movie is just ok.

I need to rewatch this one...I've ehard so many things on here about how good it is. But all I remember about it when I first saw it was kind of a "at least it didn't suck" mentality.
I just remember it not being that good.

I enjoyed it, and it was a very solid sequel, but I can't say it's better than the first. It starts out fantastic, but then just kinda flatlines somewhere in the middle. I didn't care about the characters nearly as much as I did in the first one. Still, great zombie flick.

I haven't seen the first one in a while, so refresh my memory somebody...
was the first one as violent as this one? I mean, obviously the zombies killed people, but was it with as much distain as when the father smashes his thumbs through his wifes eyes?

Didn't sleep good after watching it late one night on HBO

I don't think so. I'm still hazy on the second one, but from what I can remember, it was zombies attacking a whole shitload of people running around.
In Days, it was more about the scare of the chase, and there were a LOT fewer people. But some of the attacks were pretty brutal.

In the first one, Jim does the same thing to one of the soldiers I believe..

That's true, forgot about that scene.
Yeah, the first one did seem more about the chase than the actual attack. I just couldn't remember if the attacks themselves were as burtal in the first as they were in the second(ie, the thumb thing and beating the female soldier in the throat with the gun repeatedly).
