This article says USM continues their Cinderella run. I disagree. They've been a solid program for a while and beat a weak national seed.

Having said that, they will get killed in Omaha...

Cinderella refers to them being one of the last teams in the field of 64, some questioning if they should even be in, and - let's face it - beating superior competition away from home.

Right, I understand that. But a strong 3 seed. Comparable to a 9 seed in March Madness. Would you consider a 9 seed in the Elite 8 a Cinderella team? If so, then we disagree.

9 seed as a Cinderella? Most likely.

I think most people would think that.

So this year, in the NCAA basketball tournament, if Tennessee or Texas A&M had made the Elite Eight they would have been Cinderella?

I think Espn is just trying to create a little drama to attract those who are clueless about who these college baseball teams really are. Not saying they're wrong for doing it either, I guess, because I'd love if the whole nation got into college baseball. I just disagree with what they are trying to sell to us.

Most people = passive and/or casual fans.

So I think so, too.

there is a big difference there.,
Tennessee is in the SEC and Texas A&M in the Big XII.

yes, i would say they are a cinderella team.

Fresno State was a #4 in their regional last season (from what I remember)

Made their way to Omaha, and somehow went home with the "big trophy", as CPM calls it...

Now, THAT's a cinderella story...that's the equivalent of a George Mason WINNING the NCAA Tourney, not just making the Final Four...

Southern Miss is an underdog, and a somewhat local team, so I'm pulling for them to do well...

Let's start calling them a cinderella when they're a game away from the championship series...

People keep doubting this USM team and saying that they are about to be killed, but they just keep winning. How many fans gave them a chance to win in Atlanta? Gainsville? Now the same people are doubting them in Omaha.

I will be rooting for a LSU v. USM matchup in the NC game.

A strong 3 seed? Says who?

Their RPI ranking going into the Conference USA Tourney was #70. Over the last month of the regular season, they went 8-10.

They were far from a strong #3 seed.

They are more comparable to a 11 or 12 seed than a 9

And I would consider a 12 seed reaching the Elite 8 a Cinderella team

Don't know if they are cinderella or not, but I used to play against Corky's team back in my Jr. College days, and this I know, he is a special man. I'm happy for him.

that means that there are 8 teams predicted to get there before them.....how is that not cinderella?

no comment on the O.P.

However, did anyone see the 9th inning live? Especially the double-play to end the game? Plus the ensuing dog-pile?

Very cool situation!!

In terms of who the would have to beat, yes a #9 seed in the Elite 8 would be a cinderella. They would have to beat a #1 and a #4 on the way.

Had LSU made it to the Elite 8 this year as an 8 seed, I would say we would of had the cinderella label. It would of required beating UNC and then Gonzaga.

well that solid program had never been to the cws until this year.

so a 3 seed making it to the cws for the first time in school history sounds pretty cinderella to me.

You and me both. First because I live on the coast and second because the other bracket contains North Carolina, Arizona State and possibly Texas. USM is my choice to play in the final series.

they are absolutely a cinderella team. a #3 seed from a small conference that beats the big boys and had never even been to a supers before makes it to the cws and they arent cinderella? this post is a joke right?
