What's wrong with that? It wouldn't matter if the berm was empty. I liked the berm Ole Miss had.

a lot of the drunk non student lsu fans would also like this

and an empty berm would not look bad like empty bleachers

oh, i like the berm too .. just that anything done specifically for students to attend the baseball games is a waste .. they don't go to the baseball games unless it is to pick up regional student tix to scalp for beer money ..

I am a student and went to every baseball game we had at home. Stayed the whole time too.

I think if you made the game more enticing...i.e. similar to Ole Miss and the "tailgating" on the berm, then more students would go.

Problem this year was that the first few weekend series games were very crowded by regular patrons so students were given SRO tickets. A lot of them saw this as a slap in the face. I heard on more than on occasion of students picking up their tickets and deciding not to go in because they got SRO.

which is ABSOLUTELY not a big deal on a number of fronts .. first, the standing view in the grandstand is far better than where the student seats are .. second, at almost every game this season, you could sit in green chair backs starting in about the second inning easily .. thirdly, in general, the students barely stay for half of the games, if that long .. giving them seats would be a waste of seats to be honest with you .. the students like to walk around and mingle as it is ..

The stadium is pretty much full as it is. Adding a special section for a special portion of supporters (LSU students) that do not regularly attend baseball games might sway more students to actually attend ball games. What is the main spark to Tiger Stadium? Dont get me wrong Alex Box is definitely one of the most lively stadiums in the country. But, by giving the students an offer they might come to more games and light the same flame in Alex Box as they do in Tiger Stadium. I agree about the SRO tickets, students deserve more.

dude as a student ill tell you baseball is a badass deal. i get in for free and can leave and come back whenever i want. i would hit up all kinds of midweek games and i could even bring some notes to study between innings. i might show up late or i might leave early if i had something to do. i hit up all kinds of games this year. i kind of like the berm idea cuz it would be an additional place for people to stand during big games and chill during weaker games. i dont know if i like it over bleachers though...

big time college athletics in the era of title IX is all about money and students do not equal $$$ for the athletic department ... LSU makes NO money when duke, the 18 year old freshman with his tweety bird boxers hanging out his cut off duck heads smelling like jack daniels' arm pit yells at a game ... sorry, it is just reality today ... the climate has changed and is just not what it was in the 70s, 80s, or 90s ..

A berm would be cheaper. It would also be easy to maintain. Maybe they can allow RVS and trucks. Swimming pool? There is all sorts of possibilities with it.

I went to a lot of baseball games as a student as well. Many of us in Tiger Band went to games back then.

The problem is the SRO isn't really explained and is totally different from year's past as there is actually room created for SRO.

If the students like to mingle then the berm would be perfect. And if it were set up like it is in Oxford (tailgate style) then there would definitely be more students there.
