And you're wrong.

BTW, the only thing that really counts in the grand scheme of things is paid. Yes, you want actual buts in the seat, but you can't fund your athletics department on free tickets...

Here's the only one from 2008:

LINK

TU is at 27,189
Tech is at 25,224
UL-Monroe is at 9,717
UL-Lafayette is not included because it only has games up through Sept 14. Why, I do not know.

What is the attendance rule in place now? Isn't it an average of some number of people (15,000 is the number popping in my head, but I don't know if that's right) per year over a given number of years(3, maybe?), or something like that?

You're right, what counts FINANCIALLY is the paid attendance, but pride-wise the full stadium is what you want. Hey, I'm not trying to bash the Cajun program, I am graduate of USL and I have been to enough games recently to know that 13K doesn't happen more than once or twice a season, unless you are taking attendance numbers out in the parking lot.

"Pride" doesn't pay the bills or keep an athletic department in existence.

I get your point, but the NCAA doesn't give a shite about pride, which is why they instituted the attendance minimums, which was purely for solvency issues.

I disagree with this, to an extent.

I almost would believe that McNeese out draws ULL and ULM. Can't find any attendance figures for them though.

So you've paid bills with "pride" before? Your electric company accepts "pride" as payment?

Pride can help you to raise funds, but those who donate to their school do so regardless of attendance (or should do so, I guess).

I'm saying it's typically a reflection of attendance numbers.

Not necessarily.

I can't get to a lot of Tulane games due to geography, but I'll still donate to the school. That's how it is for a lot of our alumni.

Then you have schools like Rice, who have fewer living alumni than some schools' student bodies...

But anyway, PAID attendance (I know some out of town alumni who buy season tickets to help supplement their donation to the school) is a better indicator, because a lot of schools have free givaways, which helps "butts in the seats", which really isn't an indication of "pride".

The 2008 attendance numbers are through a maximum of 3 games. Most of the figures are just after i game, so they reflect how many the schools had in the stands for their season opener.
