in a restaurant in jennings, LA, i was hesitant to order the grilled chicken fettuccine dish, due to geography. i typically order this dish when i can to compare , b/c it's a good baseline dish and i love it

well i end up ordering it, and when it comes i realized why it wasn't named "chicken alfredo"

....it was fricking melted velveta cheese over fettuccine and grilled chicken. with onions and peppers mixed in

who the frick would think of making this dish, and who the frick eats this enough to keep it on the menu?

ETA: my mom's fried skrimp poboy and onion rings were apparently fiya , fwiw

Most restaurants that serve crawfish or shrimp fettucine in south la. use velveeta in their sauce....

I rarely order that, but when I have the cheese sauce is white, not day-glo orange. I can imagine chain places using that gunk, not real restaurants. You may be right, but not in my experiences.

Worst restaurant meal? Yours sounds pretty bad, but Joe's Crab Shack and Red Lobster are hard to beat.

I understand. They have a place in Kinder called Norris', they make a mean plate lunch. We go there sometimes for lunch since eating everyday in the casino gets boring

they don't. the OG chicken alf is aight

i'm still preferential to the chimes' version b/c it's not too heavy. ruffinos and the country club have great versions, but they're very, very heavy

I've known the guy who own's Walker's and came up with their recipes my whole life. He's good friends with my dad and we lived about 10 miles from the place. The plate lunches are always solid, FWIW.
