There's also an historic level of love for the high-profile safeties, USC's bronzed comic book hero, Taylor Mays (the No. 1 senior prospect according to NFL Draft Scout) and Tennessee's Eric Berry (the No. 1 overall prospect according to Mel Kiper), who might be, individually, the highest-rated safeties of the last 20 years -- the highest any safety has gone since 1992 is Sean Taylor at No. 5 in 2004. Even Ed Reed fell to 24th two years earlier. Certainly Mays and Berry will be the most sought-after safety combo: Only two others, Michael Huff and Donte Whitner in 2006 and Eric Turner and Stanley Richard in 1991, have gone in the top-10 in recent memory.
I found this on yahoo sports. Wasnt Landry #6 two years ago? I guess they mean Mays and Berry are the only safties to both go in top ten in the same year.

Landry never got the national press he deserved and he still made it. The guy was/is a beast.

They might have seen B. Jacobs pile drive him like Stevan Ridley used to pile drive his highschool opponents. Once that happens, you're usually not mentioned in the same sentence, paragraph, or article as R. Lott.

the media's anti-LSU agenda continues

i think this might be a case of poor writing rather than a lack of knowledge. he seems to be saying that only twice in recent memory have a pair of safeties gone in the top 10 in the same year. either way, someone isn't doing their job well.

Eric Berry >>> Laron >> Mays
Berry is a great athlete AND awesome player fundamentally. He has great technique, ball skills, instincts, etc.
LaRon is a better athlete with average cover skills.
Mays is the best athlete with the worst cover skills.
