perhaps you should have read the article.

Fight is unsanctioned event in Alabama. So no one licensed him. Athletic commission in that state doesnt deal with MMA

I didn't read the article. I posted an article a couple of weeks ago from Yahoo blasting Alabmaa for letting this fight happen. He had to recieve some sort of OK from the state.

negative... state has nothing to do with it.

My buddy Jimmy puts on smokers all the time at his gym in Mobile and invited me to bring some amateurs. Commission has nothing to do with the fights

He is fighting a 135 pounder. It's not like he's gonna be killed in the ring.

I don't have a problem with it. If he wants to do it, They should let him.

If you were to call the Alabama athletic commission and ask what they thought about this fight, they would likely have no idea what you were talking about.

That is the reason it was moved there. Because there is no one to answer to. If you want to put on an MMA event, all you have to do is secure a venue, and get it going

From what I read:

"But for some reason, the state of Alabama licensed him to fight this weekend at an amateur event in Auburn. "

I talked with my buddy who's a high school wrestling coach in the state. He said it won't be that big of a train wreck. Guys got the build of a guy that's 180 lbs, but wrestled like 103. He can get surprisingly good control with his nubs, and he used to be dirty when he wrestled because he'd never get called on it.

I still hope he gets punted out of the cage.

Takes Franklin's idea of taking a knee right away to take away your opponent's ability to kick to another level.

Why not just move around and kick him in the head?

If someone is generating revenue in the state, then someone in state or local government knows what's going on and that someone is letting this happen.

BTW, this is yet another thing that will prevent people from taking MMA seriously...

I'm surprised WWE hasn't caught on to this by now.

I just hope the video makes Youtube. I read the story, and if it goes badly, he's got no one to blame but himself.

It seems like there will be an awful lot of strikes that will not be allowed, giving him a significant advantage and confusing the shite out of his opponent. I guess if his opponent has long arms, he could just hit him with haymakers, but you're almost forced to engage him. It could be interesting to watch, but I agree that this shite shouldn't be allowed.

In the article, it says that he is always considered a downed opponent, so that's out.
