Gotta say, so far i like the new middle infield combo. I am a Shimpf fan, though, and I hope he stays in the line up at the DH spot at the very least.

Who would you choose at the plate, Nola or Landry? Landry has proven not to be a good hitter his first 1 1/2 seasons. Let's see what Nola can do at the plate.

And if you haven't noticed, Nola has a pretty good glove. We might end up with a better offense and defense.

Let me just say, going into the southeastern game, that I was not excited about the new lineup....but now I am completely sold.

When Helenihi was struggling, I was kind of hoping they'd put Nola at 3rd b/c he was impressive at the plate when he'd get in. However Hanover is killing the ball and I'm glad to see both Hanover and Nola in. Nola will be an all-american by next season.

there were a few plays he made that made me forget he was a freshman for sure....he covers the ground and has a strong ACCURATE ARM...his plate production has been good against the weaker competition this week....

I think it is great to have the pieces to put in there and have a great infield no matter which way we go

Nola has had two really impressive at-bats where he was down 0-2 and then drew walks. He can make the pitcher throw a lot of pitches every time he gets up there, which pitchers hat and it gets them out of their rhythym

The play he made in the hole to get the force out at second early in the game with runner on first nobody out was an inning changer, and maybe a game changer.ULL would have had first and third no outs and surely scored that inning. In my mind having seen the kid play numerous games his glove was never in question. For this change to really be productive he needs to hit the ball.If he stays at #2 in the order he has to be able to move runners and work the pitcher.I think its going to work out great.

agree all the way around....that play was big league style....he plays ball like old school players...gritty...hope he has a long productive carrier for my Tigers!

Nola can cut it loose when he needs to. He looks more comfortable getting the ball out early instead of patting it and showing everybody in the park how hard he can throw it. When I watched him in the state tournament last year at catholic he closed one of the games and was somewhere in the upper 80's.

He made a play in the hole against Southeastern and threw a missile over to first on the money to get the out. I really like him a short. I'm not totally sold on him at the plate yet, but I never was on Leon. I like him in there for the time being, and his defense is fantastic.

no he hasn't earned the right to start....i was hoping to continue our struggles in turnig double-plays...actually i'm freakin psyched!...not only does he look incredible defensively but he seems to have a great eye and patience at the plate...

You were at the state tournament last year? How were your seats? Mine weren't as close as I wanted.

Lester, no need to revisit all this because you and I have agreed to disagree on DJ's arm strength, but based on what I've seen Nola has a stronger arm than DJ. He made at least 2 plays on Tuesday that I don't think DJ makes: the second out of the fifth and the last out of the game. Just my opinion.
