how do u start a thread saying you can't say anything but basically say he isnt in good condition?
It doesn't make sense to me either. Did the national media completely drop the ball on the story? Probably not. If it had been a Natasha Richardson style brain injury, it probably wouldn't have occurred 36 hours after the accident either.
I hope D Byrd gets well soon, but I don't understand why some people have a fatalistic attitude about this when the reports say he will make a full recovery.

Well I just heard about it on the news and saw the report from ESPN saying he was in a wreck Sunday. They said he was going to be OK but my first thought (being a nurse) was: you don't go to ICU for observation....ICU means there is more going on. However, that doesn't mean he won't be fine so take it for what it's worth. And, yes, MVA is motor vehicle accident.

Former LSU receiver Demetrius Byrd was in critical but stable condition Monday after a car accident in Miami, and his agent said the NFL prospect was expected to recover fully.
"I just spoke with Demetrius' mother and she said that he has mostly bumps and bruises," Byrd's junior college coach, Tim Hatten of Pearl River Community College, told ESPN's Joe Schad. "She said his injuries are not life threatening and should not be football threatening."
Where does it say this?
Songy is just too stupid to realize that ICU stands for intensive care unit and has nothing to do with being in a coma.

cord when is the next update

I've suspected things have been worse...no one stays in the intensive care unit for "bumps and bruises". I think they've been sugar coating things to keep his draft status alive. (I haven't read anyone else's posts but I'm sure I'm not the first person to think this)

the last thing they need to be worrying about is his draft status

FWIW: After "Around The Horn", there was a segment talking about SEC teams and what players would have to step up to fill the shoes of departing guys on their respective teams.
They led the segment with the news about D. Byrd's accident. ESPN claims that they were told by Byrd's agent that he'd being monitored in the ICU due to a head injury, but the agent said he believes the outcome will be good. I'm guessing this is based on his interaction with the medical team. They also said further details about the accident (and Byrd's condition) would be released as soon as Byrd's mother gave consent for the medical information to be released into the public record.

Lord please help Demetrius Byrd and his family in the challenges he will face...

if he is in a coma that means he had some kind of head injury. How well he recovers from it depends on how bad the head injury is and how long he stays in a coma. He may never see the NFL if he had a serious or even semi serious head injury or if he has some kind of damage to his spinal column.
Having been in a car accident and in a coma for 2 months... Let me just put it this way. IT ain't no fun.

Is there any reason why anyone should even think this has happened? Unless Songy has some super-secret inside source that is directly contradicting everything being reported, he just doesn't understand simple medical/hospital terminology.
