so I get that the bats aren't perfect, but the guys are getting it done, and doing a great job...I guess that's all it takes to make me happy

they are LSU football fans who check out the baseball team when we are top 10.
I have a feeling this is the main factor.

They're getting it done and we're winning and that's great but if we wanna get it done in the postseason we can't continue having the numbers we do. I forget who posted the stats (maybe thunderbird?) but we were in the bottom 3 of strikeouts, team batting average, and a few others. We're scoring enough to win and that's great but looking at the numbers if we could be phenomenal and it sure as hell wouldn't hurt once we got in the postseason.
ETA: Just found some stats on it. Overall we're doing good but I don't think the stats I found are in SEC play and that's the stats I saw the other day. Either way we still strike out more than any other team in the SEC. I'll try to find the SEC-play stats.

Conference-Only Stats
9th in team average at .280
11th in strikeouts with 120
6th in runs with 94
9th in hits with 137
6th in homers with 18
3rd in walks with 59
We need to at least get the average in the upper half of the league and it'd be great if the Ks came down. If we could pull those numbers up a shade we could be lights out. I think PM said it great when he said we need to start turning walks into runs. He said in a few games we had 10+ walks but only produced 1 run. If we start producing runs off of those...damn.

Anybody that knows anything about college baseball knows how hard it is to accomplish the winning series record streak that LSU has in the SEC. If they don't, they don't know $hit, and who cares.

Those paltry numbers were from the first 3 SEC weekends. We've increased those offensive numbers the past two weeks.
Anyone looking at Dean's .286 BA would assume he is struggling today, but he is not. Same with the team. Again, just improve as the season goes on and we'll be where we want to be ... in Omaha.
We're improving. The bats are heating up.

Last year, I was saying that same exact thing about Alabama's football team. They were a horrible #1 team.

I guess Coach M has taught his team how to overcome adversity. I mean think about it, they overcome him, the worst coach in college baseball history. They overcome the fact that they are the worst baserunning team ever and they're coached by the worst base coaches ever. They overcome the most strikeouts by any team in history, including Landry's 1,276 K's. They overcome the fact that their stadium has the worst parking in the nation ...............

......I'm sorry, where did I say we wouldn't win it all? The potential is there but it's like we just half arse it most of the time.
