I think the Nationals HAVE to take Stephen Strasburg for the national exposure to put butts in the seats.

Bingo. The Nats faithful have grown restless, ESPECIALLY with this 0-7 start. People are already calling for Acta's head and the pitching staff? Holy shite, it's terrible. Can't wait to see Zimmermann come up on April 19th.

Dukes, Dunn, and Guzman have been the only bright spots so far. It looks like the light might have finally gone off in his head. Milledge is terrible at CF, his arm is terrible and his defense is almost as bad. I wish they could somehow turn him into a 2nd base but I think he is gone soon. We'll see though. So much talent but he just can't seem to get it together.

I agree they should i just dont think they will. Their GM and Boras did not have a good realtionship when the GM was in Atlanta, and im not sure they will cough up the signing bonus Boras will command. I agree that he should go #1 but i dont agree with him demainding the amount he is rumored to be asking for

Kasten was the Prez. Not sure how much he had to deal with Boras.

Jeez, the Mariners are close to being a loaded team in 2-3 years. Them and the Dbacks.

The diamondbacks are already young and have a solid farm. They have fricking 5 1st round picks coming up. They can fricking load up. THat gives them power to either trade for some solid players to fill holes or let them develop.

The Mariners are the same way. With Fields coming up that gives them one hell of a bullpen. If they're somehow able to get Strasburg (doubtful) they can choose another college arm and they'll have a strong duo in the rotation. They need to trade Beltre while he's still wanted and get some prospects and aim for 2010/2011 to make their run. The M's look REALLY promising.

My bad I meant Kasten the president not the GM. He and Boras had dealings over Andrew Jones and Greg Maddux. Im interested to see who picks up his 50 million dollar signing bonus

If that's what he's asking for, he'll get picked up by the Red Sox, Mets, Cards, or Yanks only.

I don't think he'll get it. Boras couldn't get Wieters what he wanted.

Simple, its preparation for when Lerner/Kasten fail to sign Strasburg this year.

In all honesty Rizzo is a much better GM than Bowden ever was. But that farm system is so light on pitching, its bad. Its becoming more and more obvious that you HAVE to develop your own pitchers if you want to compete without shelling out 10-15 mil a year contracts, The only pitcher Washington has in the upper minors is Zimmerman and he just got called up for this season. After that its Ros Detwiler 1st rounder out of Mizzou in 07 but he's looking more and more like a middle of the rotation guy and not anything special.

If the Nats sign Strasburg it'll be for out of this world money, something ownership has been reluctant to do, and a ML contract at that.

He got him 6mil flat bonus. But Strasburg is a whole other animal, being heralded as better than Beckett or Prior out of the draft, enough so that his name is already known in the DC area among casual fans. Its the perfect storm for Boras, he best prospect he's ever represented in the draft and the #1 pick is a team in the gutter, that can't fill its brand new stadium, with pissed of fans and has been blasted for being cheap asses last draft.

In conclusion. Stephen Strasburg is gonna make it rain. Dollar, Dollar, Bills ya'll.

Look on the bright side, ya'll have some killer bats down the street in Potomac. They have some potential with Burgess and Marrero.

Yes, but at the same time I doubt Strasburg is willing to wait a year and pitch independently if they don't reach agreement.

I think the Nats can ink him down for 6 years, 38 mil.
