I see where his ERA is 10.64 and it is not all that good on paper this year, but I think it is miss leading. If you take what he did as a Freshman. Got this from his bio:

FRESHMAN SEASON (2008)
Made 12 relief appearances, recording no decisions with a 4.26 ERA in 12.2 innings ... posted two walks and eight strikeouts and limited opponents to a .265 batting average ... fired two shutout innings in each of his first three relief appearances ... allowed no runs on two hits versus Indiana (Feb. 22) with one walk and two Ks ... allowed no runs on no hits in two innings versus Southern (Feb. 26) with no walks and one K ... allowed one hit while blanking Duquesne over two innings (March 2) ... also recorded two strikeouts in one-inning outings versus Southeastern Louisiana (March 11) and versus Tulane (March 19).

So could somebody give us a low down on the real young Mr. Nicholson please? One thing is great CST is carring the game tonight.

How the hell is his ERA this year misleading? He hasn't pitched good, therefore, he has a bad ERA, you can't justify his performance this year with last year's numbers. Which by the way, was only 12 innings. Maybe he has a good night and pitches like Alsup did last week, but I won't count on it. We could very well lose this game tonight because of who we are pitching.

Simoneaux at La Tech didn't want him and was glad when we took him so he didn't have to.

He has been a dissapointment to say the least up until this point. His fastball runs in the mid 80's and he can't throw his out pitch consistantly. Right now he's definitely not SEC caliber and it has showed. He needs to get off to a good start tonight because if he can't rack up innings vs midweek competition I really don't see a use for him in the bullpen.

Personally I think Reidie should get another shot to get some work in the midweek instead of using guys like Ott, Matulis, Bertucinni, and Coleman who need to be saved for the weekend.

Totally agree, he hasn't been bad when he got an opportunity

Not all that good on the mound either. For the most part Nicholson has been a BP pitcher for the opposing team. Would love to see him turn a corner tonight and provide a quality start but his numbers are not misleading. He has been ineffective all season.

I'd venture to say he's the worst pitcher that we dress for weekends (hopefully this reverse psychology will work tonight)

Why is Matulis or Byrd not starting tonight?

I'm sorry but why are we starting one of our absolute worst pitchers when Matulis and Byrd are available and have started midweek games and done well previously?

Maybe pitcher by committee...hopefully not forced pitcher by committee

I'm hoping they only wanna pitch him for an inning or two, or another words, until he gets rocked. Then again, he hasn't really started, so maybe he'll have an outing like Alsup

From what I understand Nicholson gets the start and Bradshaw will be our main relief guy. Hopefully Nicholson can keep the wheels on the bus...

I wouldn't be surprised if Nicholson only lasted a hand full of innings. Kids just struggles this year. Hopefully Bradshaw can keep up his recent success.

Jordan throws strikes. I rather you throw strikes and get hit around a little bit then throwing balls, be wild, or not know where the heck the ball is going. Why would anybody want to go to LA Tech when you can go to LSU? Tech has one of the shortest fields in Division 1 and no pitcher wants to go pitch at Tech.

great, only 90% of college pitchers can do this

I'd rather the guy that gives the team the best chance to win while allowing the least amount of runs, Jordan has never been that guy yet.
