Brothers And Sisters,

My mom already knows that Mother's Day is the worst possible day to go out to eat. She and I both know this firsthand.

However, this time around, she's arguing that the truly great places in town should rise to the occasion. Is she right?

I suggested that perhaps we could opt for one of the heavy hitters that's open only for dinner - this way perhaps they're not under as much pressure.

Doesn't have to be a daytime meal. If anything, I'd prefer something in the evening.

So if anybody has some advice or can comment on past experiences with this, I'd be grateful!

In advance, I will say that going to Bayona on Mother's Day was maybe the worst restaurant decision I ever made.

Go on Saturday night to celebrate instead of Sunday. Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve are the three worst dining days on the calender.

I really hope she'll opt for Saturday night...good heavens, I hope so.

Maybe I can get Johnny's to ship one of their pizzas down like the king cake places do??

If it's one of the 3 busiest days I just don't think they can do it well, that's why they often have the limited menus. It's a production/capacity issue, it's hard to scale up for 1 day 3 times a year.

If we go out for Mothers Day, we go Saturday night. The only time I have ever actually ate out on Mothers Day was when my mom was alive and then we would make sure it was some place that took reservations only.

But If she really wants to go out on Sunday,suck out up & take her where she wants, your mom won’t be around forever and at least you know you made one day happy for her.

You should cook for her.

Mom's love that stuff, plus it'll mean more to her if you put in the time vs. just plunking down your debit card at the end of an average restaurant meal.

We take our mother to Ruffino's every year for Mother's day. Best experience I've ever had with a place taking care of a big table.

I started this a couple yours ago and the mothers in my life (wife,mom,mom-in-law,god-mothers to my children) look forward to this every year since....
