They didnt. Crowton is a damn offensive genius. He has the WRs run short routes, and then pretend to cover the DBs. When JLee throws the ball, they break on the ball, make the pick, and race for the endzone.

And even last year he didn't dazzle in the spring, otherwise he would have started.

he did outplay hatch in the spring.

he had back pains in the august practices, and didn't practice that much, thus hatch getting the starting spot.

I was rooting for lee 100% last year, I still would love to see him do great this year, but there is another QB on the team that is better than him, can pass adequately enough, can run for yardage, gets the ball to his playmakers (sometimes with his left hand) generally takes care care of the ball, and actually looks off his primary receivers in games, not just practice.

I just wish Lee could give JJ his mechanics. JJ's physical talent is insane.

Does it really at all matter who starts??? Do we really not trust Miles and Crowton even a little. I mean we all know that Miles is very loyal to the upper class but this can be totally disregarded in the fact they are both Sophomores, and both saw playing time last year. I will trust Miles and Crowton to make the right decision this coming Fall, and we do play football in the Fall right? and we still have summer practice right? So how they perform in a scrimmage yesterday is a pretty moot point.

Any news on how Jefferson did?

Miles said that Jefferson threw a td pass, i don't remember to whom, but for some reason i think it was LaFell. But, it might have been molton, once again, i am not sure

LSU HEAD COACH LES MILES QUOTES

Opening statement ...
“There was some progress made today. We are fortunate to have great weather this afternoon considering at noon I wouldn’t have given us much chance to be outside. The field was perfect and the footing was fast. It was a pretty even go and we went 30 plays per team with maybe 30 special teams’ plays. It was pretty evenly matched. The offense made some plays and the defense made some plays. There were a lot of ones versus ones and twos versus twos. I think Richard Murphy had a nice day running the football. The quarterbacks were pretty even. Jarrett Lee threw for a few more completed passes and Jordan Jefferson made a couple of nice throws and completed touchdown passes throughout the scrimmage to Deangelo Peterson. Progress was made, but it was a long way away from being a team. Special teams punted efficiently, but not well. Coverage units looked good, but I’m going to wait to see the film. I think we have some competition at the field goal with Josh Jasper and Drew Alleman. Both guys kicked it well today and there will be competition to decide the starter there.”

Here is the actual quote from Les Miles per lsusports.net To me, it seems that Lee is the more accurate passer, i can't believe i just said that, but that Jefferson is the more versatile passer. It also seems that other WR's are stepping up and i really hope that this will be the year that we see more than just 2 have a really good year. If that's the case, our offense might finally play up to the standard that i believe our defense will play up to!!!

I truly would like to believe this, but with JJs accuracy problems and JLees int problem, I expect the D will have to carry us this yr. Maybe one more yr, and one of the QBs will be able to move the ball against SEC defenses.

Murph had a spectacular spring game two years ago. FWIW. We have two more mature and talented QB's this year we should do really well.

matt mauck proved you don't have to be a great QB if you have a great defense on your team.

I think JL could be a great #2 for JJ like Flynn was. Ready to step in due to injury.

I hope JL is getting good reps.

LSU will need a QB with some experience if jefferson goes down.

JLee didn't fizzle at Auburn.

Seriously, can we leave the kid alone? He was a RSFR starting in the SEC.

The #1 overall draft pick did the same thing.

What if Lee wins the starting QB slot? Outplays JJ early in the year?

I hope Crowton uses Russell Sheppard and Holiday like he did with Troy Edwards when he was a La Tech.
