why do so many people hate duke but not unc?

Don't know. Just as I hate the Sawx more than the Yanks, I definitely hate UNC more than I do Duke.

I hate both teams. But I would say I hate Duke more just because the media seems to favor Duke more than UNC.

I'd root for Duke over UNC for that reason. There are way more UNC bandwagoners.

I think that has to be it. People also mention how much they hate the Duke student body, but Georgetown has a very similar student body in terms of demographics, and they don't get 1/10th of the hate.

Thats what my prof told me...he was a UNC grad though so there might have been a tad bit bias in there.

Again, Georgetown and Stanford have nearly identical demographics and don't get near the hate. Now Stanford hasn't had the same level of historical success, but Georgetown is certainly in the same level, especially from 1980 to 1996.
Of course, Rayful Edmond was never hanging out with Duke basketball players.
