When is the SEC gonna step up to the preverbal plate and move this thing out of the Hoover Met? I mean come on… We rotate basketball. Why not baseball? I assume we’re in some sort of contract w/ the HM so when does this run out?

How awesome would it be if it rotated with say Turner, Autozone (in Memphis), The Zeph, Nashville’s new stadium, and other nice ballparks around the south?

The BigXII rotates… Hell, the ACC’s is in FENWAY this year!!!

And I don’t any argument of “home field advantage” because it’s in bama’s back yard currently. Also, don’t give me travel concerns because the basketball tourney is actually out of the circle of SEC schools…

I’d travel to one of these great ballparks in a cool city to visit. Great chance I’ll NEVER go to B-Ham… Don’t want to spend 5 days there…

Come on SEC…

Autozone is a sweet park. Simple 5 over drive as well.

actually, 2010, not 09. Changed per this article...

Fenway Park to Host ACC Baseball Championship in 2010 Instead of 2009

The 2009 ACC Championship to be played at another site to be determined.

I know I'm a homer, but our baseball (autozone)and basketball (fedex forum)facilities are great.
How about both tourneys rotating through here?

If we couldn't do it in Turner, the Gwinnett Braves (AAA) are currently building a brand new park just outside ATL.

having it at zephyr would be fantastic. hoover's nice, but i agree... there's no need to have it there every year.

+1

Don't take it away from me, it's all I got.

But really, it's a nice park, middle of SEC country, Auburn never makes it (since '03 ?) and Bama fans only come out for night games. It's a great "neutral" location.

I'd like to see it rotated as well just to visit new parks. But the fact that it's been extremely successful in Birmingham is the reason it won't be moved anytime in the near future.

Contract is through 2011, but will probably be extended again.

I also hope they never move it from Met, but i can understand people wanting it to rotate. Autozone and Zypher would be good places to play, but i wouldn't want to move it to a bigger venue like Turner Field. One of the reasons the baseball tourney is so enjoyable is the closeness to the games that you wouldn't get at an MLB park.

ETA: Don't let that score board fool you, Greer Stadium sucks

I think it should be included in a rotation.

- Birmingham
- Gwinett
- Memphis
- New Orleans
- Orlando? (Disney Complex), or another nice spring training location there or Tampa.

Yeah, Nashville would be a really good alternative if they were to move it, but that ballpark is in horrible condition. They had talked about trying to build a new park closer to downtown on the river a few years ago, but it met some resistance. Didn't keep up with what happened to the idea, but it would have been a hell of a lot nicer place than Greer
