I like the kool aid flavor this year. We were just a couple of games out of the playoffs. One of the top offenses in the league. If we can just get the D to average they could make a run.

Williams + Greer + FS + at least one impact defensive draft pick could do it. Here's a prediction, 20 sacks out of Smith, Grant, and McCray and they'll get a first round bye.

I am still not sold on someone 5'11 180lbs that ran track and broke a lot of records that Willie Gault owned. I mean do you really think he can play?

Hey, I'm not "sold" on him either. But he is who we have now. There are only a handful of corners that you can be sold fully on anyway. We'll see, The read I get on him is 90% positive. I'm not hearing any he's a bum and will be overpaid talk. We do not know the terms of the contract either, it could be a decent buy. There is some real depth now in the worst case. If McKenzie is affordable and has some tread left CB could actually become a strength. When is the last time you even thought that about our corners?

Anyone that questions his size needs to do some homework before ranting.

For me the odd thing of a lot of the Bills fans saying that they like the Saints is that I have always kind of pulled for the Bills when the Saints aren't playing them. I was a big Bills fan during the four Super Bowl losses. Lost some money on those guys. I still believe if they won that first Super Bowl they would have picked up some more wins. I guess the fact that I like both of these perennial underdogs probably reflects back on me. frick, maybe not. I like Greer, always did, all the way back to his college days.

The boy can play. Very solid corner. Playmaker too. He and Porter will go well together. Need Sharper and Sensabaugh, bad. I don't think it's either or, I think the Saints want both.

The gab seems to be going here more than the sticky so-

Terms per Schefter-

Greer's is being reported as 4 years 23 million, dont know about the guarantee, and haven't found it in print

$5mil less than Bartell, right?

Here is the Espn Insider Scouts take on him:

He has average size and good athleticism for the corner position. Greer is a natural reactor, who leverages the ball well as a run and pass-defender. He has great instincts and vision to maintain his cushion and jump routes to make plays on the ball. Greer can flip his hips and run effectively with perimeter targets as well as press up and jam receivers off the line of scrimmage. He shows decent burst and close out of his plant while keeping good body position and balance in his peddle. Greer uses his hands well to shed blockers as a run defender. He isn't a powerful tackler, but can get ball carriers down. He is an intense competitor who stays alive on most plays to be active to the pile. He doesn't have great explosive speed or burst, but understands route progressions and his limitations to be effective in both man and zone coverage. Greer is a good football player who showed well in the absence of Nate Clements and should continue to contribute as a core special team's player and cornerback.

Holy crap. They think the sun shines out of Greer's hind side. I think they have more saints fans on their board than we do. It was nice reading all the compliments from them.

It seems like we are still cautious about getting excited for a corner after the whole Jason David thing. I hope this guy pans out, though.

Remember the comments of the fans missing Drew when he left SD? Not comparing but just saying...

----------
Scout.com rated Greer the #2 available CB in free agency. #1 was Dunta Robinson of the Texans. They have Bartell at #7

What can Saints fans expect from Greer this season? What type of player is he?

A notch below a shut-down corner imo. Only WR I've ever seen burn him was Randy Moss in the 18-1 year. Completely shut down TO on MNF and most of the WRs he's on.

Ummm...I'm pretty sure if he's shut down everyone other than Randy Moss, he would still be a shutdown corner. Getting burnt by Randy Moss is just what happens when you cover him.

He played in the division with the dolphins, pats, and jets. I don't know how pass happy that division was last year apart from Randy Moss, but at least we know that he recognizes the wild cat.

My AFC East colleague Tim Graham just caught up with cornerback Jabari Greer. He's the former Buffalo cornerback who signed with the New Orleans Saints earlier Wednesday.
Greer was also pursued by Tampa Bay, Detroit and Cleveland. Greer explained why he chose New Orleans. If you're a Saints' fan, look at his word and take heart that your defense finally might get straightened out.
"It just came down to what was the best fit for me,'' Greer said. "New Orleans has the
pieces in place, and they have the best opportunity for me to succeed. The No. 1 offense in the league twice within the last three years. They're getting their defense together. They signed (Jonathan) Vilma. They have two All Pro defensive ends, which makes a corner's life so much easier. They have an excellent fan base that supports and embraces their players. They have an owner, a GM and a coach that's all on the same page and committed to winning. They have the things in place to make this a winning football team.''

had to LOL on that one, they must have fed him a lot of oysters at Drago's to convince him of that sales pitch

Someone in the Saints franchise needs an Emmy for selling that to him. It is nice to hear our future players say that though. I'm glad he's coming here fired up and ready to work for the team instead of the team working for him.
