O.K. I guess I'm the only one asking. Can LSU win it all

in basketball this year? You know the answer. Yes. Will they? It's yet to be determined. This team has stayed healthy and have had the same starting five play with consistency and continuity for almost the whole year. What will it take to knock them out of the tourney? Most analysts will tell you that in order to advance in the NCAA tourney that you need good guard play. I think the way Coach J. has inter-twined (is that a word?) Bo, Temple and Thornton at the point, that we are loaded at this position. I do believe that Coach J. will have to resort to more zone defenses to contain the physical play that the refs seem to let slide this time of year (See Wisconsin/Sweet 16). One thing is for sure..... LSU will not be "over-looked" any more. Isn't it crazy how the media is? Most people knew that LSU was an up and coming team before the KY. game but when you beat the "all time" winningest program in the country; even when they are having a "down year", you shoot up to #12 in the rankings? I'm pulling for my Tigers and anything is possible at this point. Thanks Coach J. and players for an exciting season so far. Ya'll are setting an example that "YOU" control your own destiny.

I think they will go deep into the tourney, but I dont think they will win it all.

Absolutely. They've had the talent at times over the last few years, just had to get rid of Brady, in my opinion.

Can LSU win it all? I think it could happen. LSU can beat anyone in the country on any given night. If LSU is hot and UNC is cold for example, LSU will win.
Not likely, but they can win it all.
Flip side - they can lose to anybody to. I watched a couple of close call OOC this year.

It would take LSU shooting 40% or better from behind the three-point line. This team could survive a game or two with bad shooting on the first weekend, but to advance past the Sweet 16 this team will need to shoot well from outside to put pressure on teams to come out and guard away from the basketball.

I am almost always right regarding LSU basketball predictions (see my sig).
I predict that LSU will not win the national championship in men's basketball this year. Sorry.

I'm not being sarcastic... but therein lies the problem.
I'm probably liking this team better for the tournament simply than in past years because we have so many more adequate shooters/scorers than in years past (Brady regime to date) when we had more striking talent. In other words, I'm probably giving us a better chance than we deserve because we don't have the weakness that has been our achilles heal in past tournaments.
Scoring off the bench... I think T.M. is going to have to get back on at some point... and physical defense inside could give us problems, although I am greatly encouraged by Storm Warren emerging.
I would not want to play us as a high seed in the second round!

Seriously? No. LSU has no bench help at all. Every quality win is in a ridiculously weak SEC conference. They won't have the benefit of playing SEC teams in the tournament, and look how that's worked out for them so far this season. A&M, Utah, Xavier... not exactly Oklahoma, Pitt, UConn etc

I need some of the Kool-aid some of y'all are drinkin. Win it all? Are you kidding me. All the big games we have played this year-- We have had our arz handed to us. Xavier, Tex A&M--please just because we have dominated the pathetic SEC conference is no reason to get your heads in the clouds.
This must be how USC feels every year.

I think any "top 4" seed has a legit shot at a National Title and LSU very well may be a top 4 seed. I think we may be every bit as good as Florida (a 3 seed) when they won it the first time. But when 16 teams have a "legit shot" that's still a "long shot" especially for the 3 and 4 seeds. Hell we are ranked #11, how many teams in the country do have a legit shot if not LSU?
And we haven't lost all our big games. We beat RPI #20 Tenn at Tenn. We also beat Florida, SC, UK, and Auburn all of which are tourney-caliber teams. Those games we lost, most were close and a long time ago. We also beat WSU a team that beat ASU, Arizona, and UCLA.

While I'm sure the coach and players are into the "win it all" mindset, and Tiger fans want that to happen, I think that making it to the round of 16 is as far as they can realistically hope to get, and that's a stretch.
That said, it's a great season whatever happens.

How is it a stretch for a team ranked #11 and on a 10 game winning streak to make the top 16?

We are not even close to that Florida team. The only reason we will get a 4 seed is because of our record. This year is by far the weakest I have ever seen this conference. That is the only reason we will get a high seed.
We just do not have the big men underneath, or the bench to compete with the big boys.

If Davidson and George Mason can reach the elite 8 or further of course LSU could go that deep and perhaps win it all.. with that said do I think they will? No.. but I wouldnt be surprised to see them knock off a few higher-seeded teams then them.
