The Saints will host CB Ronald Bartell for a free agent visit Friday, according to ESPN's John Clayton.

having him coming in for a looksee is a long way from close to getting him. It could happen but don't wet your pants yet.

FYI

Very good size for his position and is a good overall athlete. Aligns square in press coverage and uses his hands well to disrupt the release with adequate flip to accelerate up field with good speed. Good body control with adequate quickness to mirror. Above average recovery speed on crossing and vertical routes downfield where he can open up his stride and make up ground. Good reach and long arms to extend as the ball arrives. He has good overall quickness and body control for his size. When playing off, he will usually shuffle early. He can get turned, forced to open his hips early by good routes. He’s not a physical run-support CB. He will close quickly on screens, but is not considered a willing and physical tackler.

good opinion on Rams message boards-

View Poll Results: Bartell: Pay or let him walk?
Bite the bullet and pay the man. 50 75.76%
Let someone else overpay him and find a cheaper replacement. 16 24.24%

Considering what McKenzie is slated to earn. The salaries will be nearly the same. I figure we will offer somewhere in the range of 5 to 8 mil. per year.

I agree. Do you know if he has a history of injuries? It'd be nice to get 16 games out of a corner this year.

Bartell has a good combination of speed and size, and he has shown an ability to play well in man-to-man coverage against top receivers. He has appeared in every game since 2006, with eight interceptions in that span.

Yes I agree, but it is kind of hard to hold a broken arm against Porter. Particularly since it was broken tryng to break up a TD pass.
