I would suggest not using subs on deer. My buddy has beck ammunition subs in 308 and it’s very underwhelming on killing deer and pigs. Of the several I have seen him shoot there is not a lot of damage or blood loss no exits, he has quit using them on deer.
It’s basically a 38 special.
The ammo is very accurate though and is almost movie quiet.

Assuming you are referring to .308 win.

Why? Just get a .300 Blk out.

So if you know all of that I’m assuming you recovered the deer?

So it’s not dead enough?

If Multiple follow up shots and tracking while finding minimal terminal damage is a persons thing then yeah it will kill them dead.

180 gr subsonic Makers Rex is what you seek. Enjoy the onslaught!

I appreciate the information sir.

I’ve done some checking on a subsonic bullet from Discrete Ballistics but I do not know anyone who has used them.

I’ve personally cleaned 2 does and a pig taken with the makers Rex, a club member’s young son shoots them out of a single shot 308 for recoil purposes. I’ve even thought of ordering a box for my 30/06 for hunts on the smaller plots (100 yards max).

I’ve done a good bit of research on subsonic bullets in general for deer hunting and 100 yards is what I have read. I watched a video with the CEO of discrete ballistics and he says his bullet can be used at longer ranges. The video was very informative on on subsonic bullets in general not just discrete ballistics. I’m not sure if I believe the guy or not on the range.

When you used subsonic, did it leave a good blood trail for the doe?

What’s the obsession with having a gun for everything? If you have a .308 with suppressor, I don’t see any issue with shooting subs. You’d have to shoot a hell of a lot of suppressed shots before you could afford a new gun.

I believe he told me that all 3 kills his son made last season was under a corn feeder and they dropped under feeder. I do remember one exit on a doe while skinning and it looked like what those old land shark broadheads did to deer in the eighties. Any expanding subsonic ammo should perform under 100 yards, I would think?

You can get a much smaller rifle in 300 Blk out that is much more efficient at shooting sub sonic rounds.

If someone is completely against getting another rifle ok but my brother in law wanted me to figure out a sub sonic load for his 308 win and his 300 Blk out. I asked him the same thing. Why do you want a sub 308 win when you will have a 300 Blk out.

We’ve used discreet ammo in .308 and 300 blkout. It does great. Look at them like a mechanical expanding broadhead, stay out the shoulder.
