I’m partial to “It’s my Life”, but so many great ones.

“It’s my life. It’s now or never, I ain’t gonna live forever. I just wanna live while I’m alive. It’s my life, my heart is like an open highway. Like Frankie said,’I did it my way’. I just wanna live while I’m alive. It’s my life.”

My vote goes to this one...

A pretty simple song... but all the tension and paranoia in the verse leads in to this great chorus and probably my favorite hook of all time...

One of the Best

Fleetwood Mac- Silver Springs
Chorus:
“Time cast a spell on you
But you won't forget me
Well, I know I could have loved you But you would not let me lil follow you down
'Til the sound of my voice will haunt you
Oh, give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound Of the woman that loved you
Was I just a fool?
I'll follow you down
'Til the sound of my voice will haunt you
Give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound Of the woman that loved you”

The percentage you're paying is too high priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
But today you just read that the man was shot dead
By a gun that didn't make any noise
But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest
Was the low spark of high-heeled boys

Maybe one of the most simple lyrically, yet still most powerful as a chorus.

Nights in White Satin

Cause I love you
Yes I love you
Oh how I love you

That song must remind you of somebody.

This one might be in the same vein of I Got You but Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime

The song feels sung with a straight forward reading from the page. Then the chorus drops in a nice melody with a backing chorus, the guitar comes in and balances an odd bassline and afro drum beat, a fine contrast that works between verse and chorus.

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Thought it may have been a little too pop-ish and then throw in Crowded House. Learnt something new about you.

Catchy one that's been stuck in my head for about a week or more. It's on of my favorite Police Songs

Here’s one of the Best and one of my favorite of all time.

Peter Murphy- Cuts You Up

Chorus 1
You know the way it throws about
It takes you in and spits you out
It spits you out when you desire
To conquer it, to feel you're higher
To follow it, you must be clean
With mistakes that you do mean
Move the heart, switch the pace
Look for what seems out of place

Chorus 2
You know the way it twists and turns
Changing colour, spinning yarns
You know the way it leaves you dry
It cuts you up and takes you high
You know the way, it's painted gold
Is it honey? Is it cold?
You know the way it throws about
It takes you in and spits you out

Chorus 3
You know the way it throws about
It takes you in and spits you out
It spits you out when you desire
To conquer it, to feel you're higher
To follow it, you must be clean
With mistakes that you do mean
Move the heart, switch the pace
Look for what seems out of place

You don’t see choruses like that hardly anymore

Peter Murphy has some great ones. In fact he has one where the chorus is just him vocalizing and it works perfectly.

Fall with your Knife.
