Based on the depth in the draft, we should go offense at 8

I play with NOF’s mock draft a bunch and while there are some solid WRs in Rd 2 and maybe 3… I like the amount of talent on defense deep into the draft at positions of need like CB, S, DE and NT.

Take Tyson at 8. Then the rest of the draft go defense except a guard/center in Rd 3 or 4.

As tempting as that is I would go with Delane at 8. Safe pick of quality player and position of need. I would try and pick Bell in 2nd or 3rd and try to pick up edge rusher.

I’m sure him being from LSU has nothing to do with why you think that

Tyson’s injury history is too concerning for a top 10 pick.

And we have so many needs it doesn’t really matter where we go. A WR like Bernard or maybe Boston or Cooper could be had in the 2nd. Tate and Tyson aren’t that much ahead of those other guys that you have to go WR at 8.

We need CB, NT, pass rusher, RG, WR, TE, etc. Just take the BPA regardless of position and build up the team.

It just needs to be BPA from Round 1-3

If it’s all offense then so be it and vice versa. The team just needs an injection of talent

It’s not

That’s such Neanderthal thinking when it comes to drafting

What happened to you? When did you get so fricking stupid? Only one of those guys will likely be available in the 2nd and if you think Bernard isn’t that much different than Tate or Tyson…..wheew

He played one year at LSU and isn't from here, so it's not really an LSU thing. Dude balled out last year and has the measurables. He should be a good one.

Actually it doesn't. The draft is fairly deep at WR, so we should get a decent in the 2nd. Bain is a slight risk, Downs supposedly has deep coverage issues. I'm not expecting Styles, Reese, or Baily to drop to us so Delane seems to be the best candidate for a position of need.

Two weeks ago I would have agreed. But now consensus is that 4 WRs will go in the first and it will be Tate, Lemon, Tyson and either Conception or Boston. Because there are so many WRs, the demand won’t be there and there will be several that will fall to the 2nd or 3rd round.

That’s the thing. This WR class is deep, but the top guys aren’t without their issues that make them so much better than everyone else.

There’s no elite guy like a Jamar Chase in this class. Every WR has an issue you have to ignore or learn to live with. You can ignore their issues if you want, but they are still there.

Tyson - elite traits, but oft injured and toughness questions
Tate - High floor and good production, but not elite traits
Lemon - Good traits and tough and good at contested catches, but short
KC Conception - Good traits and quickness, but short and not good at contested catches.
Bernard - Good at everything, but not elite.
Boston - Tall and smooth with a good catch radius, but not fast or quick
Brazzell - From Tennessee
Bell - Injured and didn’t test, but concentration and blocking has been questioned.
Cooper - Old and good at everything, but not elite
Branch - Great at RAC and super quick, but short and small
Fields - Good overall, but maybe not elite or super quick
Hurst - Tall and fast, but small school competition
Thompson - Good at catching and fast, but a little small

And there’s half a dozen guys I didn’t mention like Williams, Sarratt, Bell, Daniels, and Burks.

… we should trade down. Take Conception, Theineman, Ioane in the teens, pick up an extra second or third.

False.

WR is very deep this year, and this is the only real offensive position we need (besides a late round G). Wait until round 2 or even 3 for a good WR.
