What’s the boards thoughts on Jay having such a short leash with the pitchers?

I was good with it early on to see who you could trust. At this point it seems like it isn’t allowing pitchers to get into a groove. I thought pulling Benge last night was bullshite.

I’d like to see them narrow down the arms to a group that we trust/depend on and let them go a bit further.

He seems to constantly pushing the wrong buttons this year. Last year most were right. This team isn't good. They aren't just going to become good all of a sudden.

losing 8-4 is still losing. Get Benge out and he may save our arse in game 3. Or his batting average against is like 360. You pick, Maybe he thought he was on borrowed time

As far as arms you can trust? Who the hell is that. Cowan, Schmidt, Fontenot…Rizy has been ok and he damn near decapitated a guy.

Maybe that was the though process. But does it really matter? We have a bad SEC team with a Sunday or rotation guy starting Friday nights. We have a marginal Saturday guy starting Saturday. Sunday is a disaster.

I think KP was spot on, you’re basically going inning to inning unless you get back into it - then things could change. Otherwise, you’re getting guys work, but not exhausting them for the entire weekend.

Jay wants guys to come in and get the leadoff man out. It's been a requirement since he got here. He also has certain guys that he only planned as situational guys to pitch to specific batters.

I'm not a huge fan of changing pitchers early in college bc you end up with someone who's off that night who can unravel a good game. (See UCLA last year) but this is different. None are doing the prerequisite get the first guy out

If it’s to save an arm for later in the weekend, sure. The problem is that Jay was the only person in the ballpark that thought Evan should come back out for one more inning when he was right at a 100 pitches. Obviously left him in too long. Jay has also lost a couple games this year leaving in Guidry too long. With one exception, Guidry usually doesn’t do well beyond 2 innings.

One day peeps big mad that Jay left him in 1 pitch too long, then mad Jay took them out to early. Guess Jay needs to poll every fan at the moment by text to see what they are thinking.

Only problem is all the buttons on this team are the shiny red buttons. Jay can’t win with these guys.

I think Jay has a system that he sticks to. It’s a chess game and he has limited options when we’re behind in a game. If we’re losing late on a Friday…he’s going to be very conservative with good arms to give us a chance to win Saturday and Sunday. Especially when both teams have Johnny wholestaff throwing Sunday.
