I work in data science/analytics. frick the stories I could tell. Been doing it for over a decade. Well versed in Python, SQL and once Tableau until we decided it crapped the bucket after the Snowflake acquisition and we could do it ourselves better in open source Python (Streamlit). Also a master in machine learning models.
With credentials there, come at me bro.
All serious, Trump claims he’s looking after our manufacturing workers, hope he is! But have you guys felt that in reality?
And, should he be looking after us IT-ish workers as H1B workers (ignore AI) are brought in to replace us nationwide?

Yeah, it sucks every single industry wasn't immediately improved overnight, when he took office. Its almost like hes human and has a LOT going on. Manufacturing takes the longest man. Things have to be built etc, for that segment to boom. Don't worry, its coming

Fthat, I want him to do something about the legitimate H1B's as well. Something as simple as one kid you can stay, two you go home.

He is probably going to get to it after he has to fix a million other fricking things

Shareholders love H1Bs and the cheap labor. They don't give a damn about American workers. You should know that.

Like transformer architecture or more fundamental mathematics?

How about 1 kid and you go home forever.

That doesn’t make sense.
So when you say

master in machine learning models.
You mean... what exactly?

Sure, what did your masters in machine learning cover, especially if it didn't cover transformers.

Seems like a "free market" cheat code.

Where’s that relevant in the real world chutiya or rundi, whichever you prefer? You import the model and train it. That depends on your company, the amount of historical data, and the features you provide to the model during EDA.

Sara Gonzales has a story on youtube about it from aday or two ago. H1Bfraud will be part of Vances fraud task force. Vance said the other night that new H1B Visas are down 90% but said more has to be done and more reforms will be done. He said that people have to stay on their local politicians about it and said the reforms will need to be codified. The 100k fee now only applies to new H1Bs not renewals. The story I was watching said that people could come in on a F1 and if they switch over to H1Bs the 100k fee doesnt apply

Just a software engineer who is curious about what universities are prioritizing right now for ML.
The software field is in chaos with some people claiming frontier models are going to take over everything, others saying it will never happen.
