Scott O’Neill just said they are fully funded for the 2026 season
Posted on 4/17/26 at 9:13 am to JimTiger72
And one week ago he said they were funded through 2032. Yesterday he also said the rumors were shite. Then today he confirms the rumors
Nothing he says means anything. He isn’t in control of the money

They took that interview down already. Scott O’Neil has said a lot of things in the last 36 hours. He’s not someone I would take at full face value right now

I mean come on man… things obviously changed with the PIF & the announcement of their 5 year plan. That’s the difference in now and a week ago.

I think it’s perfectly within reason for the state to ask for some answers.
There’s a lot of things happening, and LIV is doing a really poor job of communicating (some of it is out their control obviously).
It doesn’t help when you have people like pirate king and MrLSU who still believe this is a large PGA conspiracy.

He allegedly told sources in Augusta they were funded through 2032… O’Neill is very obviously is the “everybody remain calm” while the building is on fire in the background guy. I don’t envy that guy.
Anyway, who’s the rocket with the high ponytail in the back?

Sure. They also have 3 other tournaments before New Orleans & currently playing in Mexico. The amount of damage control they have to do after the news this week is crazy.
By all reports, LIV is fully funded for 2026 & expecting no changes to their season.

I would say that unless the PIF comes out and confirms what LIV is saying, LIV Golf is a week-by-week thing. O'Neill does not have a ton of credibility right now.

They received something like $250M from PIF on 2/1/26. I think they know whether or not they are fully funded for the 2026 season

They've paid out $150M just in purses since 2/1. $250M doesn't cover the purses for 60% of the total events...
For the 2026 season, LIV Golf features a total purse of $470 million. Each of the 14 regular-season events offers a $30 million purse, split into $20 million for the individual competition and $10 million for the team competition. All 13 teams earn prize money at regular events, and no players are cut.
What's their current cash position? What other sources of income do they have and what are their expenses?
Those are the only questions that really matter without the PIF.

Played Bayou Oaks the other day, conditions are nowhere near where they should be for any level of pro event to happen.

Yeah LIV requires well over a billion, maybe close to $1.5 billion, from PIF to cover their expenses for a season. $500m in purses, plus the guaranteed player payments, plus all other employees (including C suite executives and big name broadcast talent) real estate, subsidizing broadcasts and tournament infrastructure/logistics. Advertising.
They’ve already spent that $250m.

More fake news. LIV is fully funded for the rest of the season.

It's fake news the State of Louisiana is seeking answers? Did you even read the article?
quote:
Amid questions over the future of the Saudi Arabian-backed LIV Golf tournament planned for City Park this summer, Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois has told tournament leaders that the state wants answers by Monday about whether the event is still on.
Bourgeois said Thursday that she emailed officials with LIV, who are currently in Mexico City for the latest stop on their international tour, after multiple financial publications reported Wednesday that Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund is considering pulling its support from LIV.
“Needless to say, we are concerned about the reports this week,” Bourgeois said. “They are in Mexico, but I have said, by Monday, we need to have a candid conversation about where this stands.”
Gov. Jeff Landry, through a spokesperson, said he still has no official word from the organization on its plans related to New Orleans, though “so far, we have not been notified of anything as far as LIV folding or pulling out.”
So are you saying it's "fake news" that state officials have reached out to LIV and requested a conversation?
