Blight killed most of if not all dogwoods in pike county mississippi 20+ years ago. You still see them in other parts of the state. Anyone had luck with reestablishing these? Such a beautiful tree to not get to enjoy

there are native/asian hybrids now that are resistant to anthracnose. If you’ve had anthracnose in your area, it’s pretty likely that if you plant a pure native you’ll lose it at some point.

It’s a shame. The woods around my parents place in the ozarks are full of them

We just got back from DC and they had a lot in bloom. Wife likes them because they had one when she was a kid so we’ll likely plant one at some point.

Do you have deer? Deer love them so use tree screening to protect them in the early years.

I have a few on my place in Tippah County that are pretty big and I've bought bare root trees and planted them as well.

Felder Rushing has a radio show on Mississippi public radio tomorrow at 9 AM….call in and ask him! I’ll be listening.
