One of the more overrated players in recent memory. Boosted solely off of 1 inning in 2023.
Also, frick Barbe.

He had a great outing last sunday

Yes, Guidry has never impressed me as a pitcher. If you sit breaking ball then he’s not going to overpower you with a 92 mph fastball.

Former Bucs probably

He’s a shortstop who they tried to make into a pitcher. Never really had elite control always relied on a fastball tried to have him do something he wasn’t capable of that’s baseball.

Wrong. He had 3 wall scrapers that would have been out with a more favorable wind. He was just lucky.

Wrong he had 3 pop ups in any normal stadium

can he play 2nd base since his pitching career is done, and we need a decent infielder?

The guy gave what the team needed his entire career at LSU. He should get some starts in the infield.

He became a pitcher because he sucks at hitting.

Then we have a team of pitchers, save 2 or 3.

So does every other player on the roster. Can he field a ground ball and turn a double play?

Well, that seems like a half truth. I won’t argue he became exclusively a pitcher because of his bat. But he’s a pitcher. And that is primarily what Jay wanted him to do.

Damm wind was blowing hurricane force today. How more favorable do you want it to be for hitters?
Posted on 4/12/26 at 9:18 pm to Mats86
He wanted to do both, but he was bad at the plate.

It was weird the praise. He had one or two good appearances and a dozen clunkers. It’s a game of percentages what did y’all think would prevail…

He really is only a closer as a pitcher. Probably ok to pitch to one or two guys that is it, beyond that he will get drilled.. Doesn't have enough pitches to pitch innings of baseball. But, we got a lot more problems than Guidry and the guy has given his all.
The team this year can't catch, hit or pitch with consistency--a recipe for disaster. We occasionally get hot at the plate and put up numbers but we are not a good baseball team.
