That maybe we should stop with all the damn shifting? I mean seriously.

When it works it’s great
When it doesn’t & you have kids out there that haven’t had any meaningful playing time it’s really bad

I think a lot of the outs are misleading. A lot of the shifts that “work” would have been made without the shift. These shifts also don’t create great angles for double plays.

It’s not bad some times. But you can’t do it with someone who rarely plays.

The shift is necessary in today’s game. But whoever is in charge of LSUs shifting is a fricking moron.

You have plays against lefties where they shift the second baseman over to shallow RF, but they don’t bring the SS over to the 2B side. You have players switching shift position mid AB. Why the frick is Milam ever playing the shallow RF spot. It’s just insane

I think he should shut it down. frick the analytics, let the players field their own positions. The way baseball players have been doing for 150 years.

In today’s game? In the history of baseball, hitters have always had tendencies and their opponents had spray charts that were kept. Pitchers pitched to their weakness and position players move to their tendencies but all this moving all around is ridiculous. Cowan got 3 routine groundballs and a weak flyout and gives up 3 runs.

Great teams like “Break up the As” had never even heard of the “shift”.

Worst infield at LSU since I started watching LSU baseball in 1988!

Who fricked up in the 8th? Who was brought in for defensive replacements?

As much as we are replacing fielders at this point in the season it makes no sense. Play them straight up and see what happens. We still don’t have a set 3rd and 2nd baseman, and we are still shifting. No way they can get comfortable and confident.

Quite the opposite. We should shift as much as we can to ensure every ball goes to Milam. Anything else is only like a 70% fielding % anyway. Might as well take a chance

The shift didn’t really come into vogue until the late 40s when Indians manager Lou Boudreau, knowing that Ted Williams couldn’t go the opposite way to save his own mother, devised it to defend him. Even then, it was seldom ever used until about the last 15 years for every Tom, Dick and Harry NOT named Ted Williams.

Going back to simple things may help this team.

I feel like its one of those things, you remember it more when it doesnt work, than all the times it works. There is a reason every major club shifts, it works. But i think expecting freshmen to do it constantly and changing their positions is asking a bit much

It's a simple game
You throw the ball
You hit the ball
You catch the ball

Coach may be making it too complicated for some of the players.
