Legal types, how TF is that possible? Imagine her poor parents having to relive that nightmare over again.

Update:

?? OMG. Prosecutor just indicated there’s DNA evidence that 7YO Athena Strand was also S*XUALLY ASSAULTED by the FedEx driver who kidnapped and k*lled her

"We have Tanner Horner's DNA in places where you shouldn't find DNA on a 7YO girl."

not a lawyer, but i imagine gathering all the evedence for this took a while. Being Texas, they most likely wanted it to be airtight and seek the death penalty.

I'm OK with the process taking that long as long as the penalty phase gets carried out much more swiftly.

If defense is going to string it out, and they get rightly convicted, the appeals process should be fast tracked and execution to occur in less than 1 year of conviction.

Happens all the time. Criminal (and civil dockets) still really haven't caught up from covid, and I'm sure there was a ton of pretrial motions and such to deal with.

Looks like the creep has pled guilty. The trial now moves to the sentencing phase. Death sentence or life in prison are the options.

In colonial days, people didn't have time for all of the BS our current broken bureaucracy imposes. In colonial days, trials lasted about an hour and if guilty the sentence was carried out in 10 days.

We should legally be able to raise money, holding a Rally ... winner gets to be temporarily given, one time only, approval from the state ... to administer justice.

4/5 of proceeds go to victims relatives ... 1/5 goes to the state to administrate and run advertising.

I would assume he has been kept in solitary. If he was in the gen pop he would have been ended in 2023.
