Rent bikes, ride around the city and by the river

Spend time in Old Montreal, have a patio lunch on the square and get some great French food

That time of the year the trees will be starting to change color. It will be beautiful weather.

Here are a few pictures from my trip

Bota Bota

Renting bikes is the best suggestion. During September many of the streets will still be pedestrianized. There are a million great places to eat and drink. We had a great time at Fleurs et Cadeaux and Sans Soleil. Another great night was Le Magestique and Big in Japan. Either or both of the markets.

We spend most of our time in the Mile End neighborhood. Its full of brew pubs like Brasserie Dieu du Ciel!, Vices and Versa (great courtyard in the back) MABRASSERIE (in an old school house) and and little cafes such as Else's. Go walk upMount Royal if its a nice day.

I would second mile end. Rue Wellington was also neat.

Downtown the underground city is mis-able when nice, but probably worth it if raining or cold.

Crew Cafe was really fun for coffee.

We had 4 kids with us so the Olympic Park area with museums and the botanical garden was a great day.

Jean-Talon Market was a ton of fun. We actually bought stuff there later in the day and went back to the waterfront near old town and had a picnic dinner that we really enjoyed.

Old Town is cool but decently touristy as most areas like that are.

We typically eat, walk, and drink. I’ve never had a bad meal there. Some really great steak houses there imo.

Was there on a tour for three full days and two partial days in July of 2024. Got to see many parts of the city and enjoyed them all. Found the people friendly and the food excellent. Used both the buses and underground on our free time to get around when we needed to cover distances, though we are active seniors and enjoy exploring and tend to walk a lot. Lots of good suggestions so far. We enjoyed museums, the botanical gardens, the Jean-Talon Market, the Basilica Notre-Dame and numerous restaurants and cafes. The Ferris wheel and the Tower of the Port of Montreal were just ok. Our group stayed at the AC Hotel Old Montreal. Not fancy but comfortable and well located. The only previous time I was in Montreal was for Expo 67!
