With St Aug announcing a plan others cannot be far behind.

Crescent City Sports

I do believe it will have a ripple effect. How many black athletes at places like Karr or even other Catholic league schools may decide to go after pocket money? How long before other schools follow?

That is an educational NIL class St Aug has instituted, not an actual NIL program for its athletes.

I guess I'd rather them stay local and get paid over going to IMG Academy.

I think the biggest impact will be players reclassifying to leave early so they can get a pay day.

Why stay in high school and risk getting hurt, if someone is going to pay you millions to go to college?

Did I miss something in that article?

Its a class about learning how to hand NIL not actual high school NIL.

Serious question:

Out of all the HS athletes to go to college to play sports, how many do you think are being paid over $1,000,000??

Depends if you are asking per year or over the life of the deal they are signing? Are you including revenue sharing or just NIL?

Read the article, I'm not sure this is what you think it is.

quote:

Rooted in the school’s mission of developing young men of leadership, discipline, and purpose, NIL-SA places education at the center of NIL opportunities. The program equips students with essential knowledge in financial literacy, personal branding, contract fundamentals, digital citizenship, ethical decision-making, and long-term career planning — ensuring that they are prepared not only to seize opportunities, but to do so responsibly and sustainably.

Unlike transactional approaches to NIL, NIL-SA emphasizes preparation over promotion. The initiative is designed to ensure that St. Augustine students graduate not only college-ready, but business-ready, with the tools to navigate complex decisions both on and off the field.
