And they have 2000 dorm rooms with students living in hotels.

By out of state you mean...Texas? Which other states? Mississippi? Very few from Florida and Alabama in my limited experience.

Parents are getting wise. Send your kid to a college in the South they won’t become trans and cut their dicks off.

Kids these days use their number of scholarships/acceptances as bragging rights. My kid had some classmates bragging about getting into 10+ universities.

Also at this point, I think LSU is just trying to break the record each year. They bragged about that way too much during orientation.

Honest question and I've asked this before and honestly don't remember the answers.

Why do the schools need to be responsible for housing? Won't the free market 3rd party Apartments take care of it? Now, sure, if you vastly increase enrollment without a plan, that's an issue.

But my point is the government has NEVER been good at housing. Modern dorms are expensive. I certainly understand being on campus has a major advantage, but most SEC schools have off campus apartments available with very good transportation or within walking distance of campus.

Reenforcing my comment. Kids today go online and rapid fire college applications out all over the country.

Example: This BS from the New Orleans area. How many kids didn't get a scholarship because of this kid?

quote:

A Louisiana high school senior who was offered a record $10 million in scholarships from nearly 200 colleges announced he will be attending Cornell University in the fall.

During a press conference Friday, Dennis "Maliq" Barnes revealed he would be attending the Ivy League university's school of engineering to pursue a degree in computer science.

quote:

Barnes' $10 million-plus scholarship haul is the most of any college-bound senior in U.S. history, his high school said, breaking a Guinness World Record held by another Louisiana high school senior who received nearly $9 million in scholarships in 2019. The school is contacting Guinness to make Barnes' record official, CBS affiliate WWL-TV reported.

While Barnes didn't specify the amount of his scholarship from Cornell, he said he was "very happy with the offer."

F'ing ridiculous

It still costs money right? I remember I had a friend in college that was 1/2 Brazilian and got minority favoritism, but he bragged about getting into every Ivy league but Harvard and one other. He went to Yale ultimately. But he spent like $1200 on those applicants and only wanted to go to 2 or 3 realistically.

LSU houses over 6,700 students on campus as of August 2024, with various housing options including traditional dorms and apartment-style living. Due to record enrollment, LSU is actively expanding, with a new project approved in June 2025 to add over 1,200 more beds by Fall 2027.

Until / unless they drop the on campus living requirement for freshman, there is no shot in hell we are sending our daughter there.

From what I see, Texas kids either stay local. OR they go north, Oklahoma, Arkansas. And the frat/sorority ($$) types love to go to Ole Miss.

My demographic includes Midland and North Texas

Interested to see how adding standardized test scores back into acceptance criteria changes the application numbers…

I have no issues per se with a ton of kids from out of state coming to LSU for college. Bama did similar and the university really benefited from it.

My fear is demographics are going to shite. I’ll say no more on that as to not be banned.
