Has there been "regime change" in Iran?

Question is asked for the exact date/time this thread is made (to ensure if actual "regime change" occurs down the line, people can't bump this thread dishonestly and try a gotcha attempt). As of about 7am, CST, on April 2, 2026, has there been "regime change" in Iran following the US going to war with Iran?
Hegseth and Trump have started claiming that "regime change" has occurred as a result of this war with Iran. The thread is a relatively simple discussion asking if the change in leadership qualifies as "regime change".
Typically "regime" means more than just an individual or small selection of individuals. It implies the system and organization in power. I have described the individual killed as "meat suits" previously to ensure the conflation did not occur.
In Iran, historically the "Regime" is the system put in place after the 1979 Revolution, disposing the prior regime.
THAT system, organization, and structure is "the regime". When people talk about "regime change" in Iran, they are talking about replacing that ruling class and installing an entirely new system to permit an entirely different system and organization (plural, hopefully) in power.
Hence, why many people who do support this war have stated something along these lines: "We have to replace the regime or they will just come back in a few years and we will be back to square one. We have to replace the regime to stop their terror organizations and desire for nuclear weapons the destabilize the region."

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who developed the "guardianship of the jurist" doctrine. It is a theocratic system led by a Supreme Leader, bolstered by a clerical establishment, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and a hardline bloc known as principalists.

You're asking questions you know nobody on this board can answer.

I don't think regime change has occurred but I have no problem with them claiming that if it gives us an exit

Anyone can answer.
We know that the structure around the former meat suits is still in place.
We know that the clerics and IRGC are still in place.
We know the current leadership, acting as head of state, is in place following the succession policies of the regime.
It breaks down to if you want to change the definition of "regime "to mean a handful of meat suits or if you want to use the textbook, academic, common sense, and/or connotative definition of "regime" to admit no change has taken plan.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why we aren’t airdropping small arms and droning Basij until the people can get to them.
A domestic uprising on top on US and Israeli strategic bombing would topple the regime.

There has been a leadership change
The same underlying entity and ideology is still there

Those discussions are noticeably absent lately when they were quite common when this war began.
Remember the "THEY WERE TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL WE STOP BOMBING" emotional responses?

That would be a total fail

I guess we won't know until the media assigns us that opinion.

Which person in a position in power in Iran today is from outside of the ruling class/party that existed in January 2026?

We may have over estimated the desire of the people to change the regime
The ones that seemed most eager to were killed

After the public pivot by Trump/Hegseth, prepare yourself for more failure.

Yes. The old regime is dead. Gone.

So who is in power now, exactly? Is the population running things from the same organization/population that was ruling Iran prior to the war?
