If Iran moves towards piping to the Red Sea that still blocks off China and India.

Do you think China/India etc. are going to simply reduce their intake of oil?

Or do you think they’re going to start offering more money to other suppliers that aren’t affected by this issue leading to an increase in the global price of oil?

Which one? Hmm…truly difficult to say.

I saw today the straight was moving a lot more fluid, last week they were turning around China and Russia tankers. Really dont understand how the whole world doesn’t have a problem with Iran right now.

I never realized the outlet on the Southwest side of Saudi looked like a butthole.

and I think that is 2.5% of the flow through there is to us, not 2.5% of our oil

Agreed, I'll fix that.

No, but I think they will need to weigh in to stop the blockade.

Grok says it's almost 7% of European oil passes thru thru the Strait of Hormuz.

But lets be honest, this military action isn't about oil, but about destroying Iran's ability to continue to drive terrorism and chaos in the ME.
The Hamas Oct 7th attack was launched at the particular time it was launched was to disrupt the Abraham Accords.

The fact that ME countries are supportive of this attack on Iran says it all. They realize that peace with Israel and throughout the ME is good for everyone, the only country standing in the way is Iran.

For us it is, but how long can China and India do without oil.
We can go forever as this will probably be win win for us.

A lot of those countries are our allies. They let us build bases in them. Of course they don’t like Iran, especially now. But they’ve gotta be pretty pissed at us for abandoning those bases and letting them get shin kicked by Iranian missiles for a few weeks.

Mostly because Iran didn’t start the war that caused the Strait to be threatened.

Everyone knows, and knew, that attacking Iran meant closing the strait. From the perspective of everyone except MAGA and Likud, the US-Israeli bombing campaign is why the Strait is closed/limited.

We didn’t abandon them, and those gulf states are the ones begging us to keep going.

Which is why tons of nations have assets in the region already. They simply want no part of a war they didn’t start or agree to

Oil is only part of the equation.

Australia provides them with coal, coking coal, and iron ore.

Those underpin their manufacturing.

If Australia misses out, then Japan, India, South Korea, and China have major issues, with limited pathways to address them.
