On a lighter note, an Apache paid Kid Rock a visit in Nashville over the weekend

ABC News

A U.S. Army spokesman confirmed to ABC News that the Army has launched a formal investigation into the flyover of two Apache attack helicopters by Kid Rock's Nashville home over the weekend.

A source familiar with the incident said that the four crew members aboard the two helicopters have been suspended pending the investigation.

Why does there need to be an investigation? It was a beautiful moment that people loved.

This is ridiculous. More wasteful spending and time by our government.

An investigation and suspensions for a fricking fly-by?

Good grief our military leadership are fricking pussies.

Stupid to have an investigation.

When my son was around a year old (he's almost 20 now), we were at my in-laws who live on the Tennessee River.

We were standing on the deck outside when an apache came out of yellow creek 30 feet over the water and headed up river toward us.

Pilot saw us as he was passing and stopped. Sat there just like in Kid Rock's video for 10-15 seconds, waved and took off.

Was one of the coolest things I've seen.

I have seen an Apache do a barrel roll and in Iraq we did a reenlistment on the catwalk of our ATC Tower and I was holding the flag and we had a Kiowa pretty much within arms length of its skid while we were doing the reenlistment. I have a photo it was pretty cool. I have also had a National Gaurd Blackhawk request low level near Spanish Lake by New Iberia decided to land without letting me know what he was doing on a piece of property he bought I guess to show his crew and locals in the area started calling. I think he got smack on the wrist from his command for doing that. All in all this isn't a big deal, this is done more often than you think, and the only reason they want to make it a big deal is because it is Kid Rock.

When I first read this story and about the suspension, all that went through my head was...

It was a hell yeah moment for sure but I’m sure there is a Major somewhere with a puckered booty hole after a Colonel saw an Apache hover at eye level 100 feet from a residence.

If the people are mad about this they should probably know about every military pilot flies over their house to wave at their wife and kids.

I have a similar story to this. My cousin married a Dutch pilot that was stationed at Sheppard AFB as part of the NATO training units there. They flew T38s. Our farms were about 45 miles due west, just above the north fence of the Waggoner Ranch. He knew where they were and would buzz us when we were out running middles on cotton or plowing wheat stubble.

It would scare the absolute piss out of me. I'm sure he was well above, but it sounded and felt like he was doing a touch-and-go off the cab of the tractor. Then he would do that waggle-wave thing after passing by.
