BREAKING: In an 8-1 ruling, the Supreme Court announced this morning that Colorado’s ban on so-called conversion therapy violates First Amendment free speech rights. Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion. Jackson was the lone dissent.
“The First Amendment stands as a bulwark against any effort to prescribe an orthodoxy of views, reflecting a belief that each American enjoys an inalienable right to speak his mind and a faith in the free marketplace of ideas as the best means for finding truth,” the Court ruled. “Laws like Colorado’s, which suppress speech based on viewpoint, represent an egregious assault on both commitments.”

She seems like a follower. I'm mostly surprised she veered from the other zombies.

Jackson is the same as Massie; against Trump on every issue.

LGBTQ leftists often argue that gay people are born that way.
Their opposition to this law is an admission that the human mind can be programmed in either direction.
Humans are moist robots.

Wait - am I reading this wrong?
Is SCOTUS saying you must allow (cannot ban) 'conversion therapy" ??
doesn't ring true if Jackson is only dissent - seems to be backwards.
maybe I just don't understand SCOTUS-speak.
edit = disregard
following comment from X clears it up - for me anyway.
"To say a child can receive permanent and mutilating "gender affirming care", but that they cannot seek to change their mind, which is non-physical and reversible, is inconsistent of law and spirit, to say the least."

I guess I do not understand the case, because 8-1 is really unanimous when the 1 is the retard on the bench. But . . . .
How is regulating a counselor's speech different from regulating a MD's or attorney's speech?
Doctor's have lost their medical licenses for speech that "harms" patients or falls below a standard of care. Similar thing for attorneys.

I knew the DEI DA was the dissenting vote as soon as a saw the count.
Maybe she just didn't understand the topic. She doesn't know what a woman is after all.

Colorado banned conversion therapy (Christian led therapy to help trannies overcome their mental illness)
The SC just said Colorado can't do it. The retard was the only dissent.

“Therapy” as in counseling. Not surgery and drugs.

The Court found that Colorado's 2019 law, which prohibited licensed mental health professionals from attempting to change a minor’s sexual orientation or gender identity, favored viewpoints that affirmed LGBTQ+ identities while banning those that did not.
quote:
The ruling in Chiles v. Salazar marks a significant legal victory for advocates who argued that such bans constitute viewpoint discrimination against therapists seeking to offer counseling aimed at reducing same-sex attractions or gender dysphoria in accordance with religious beliefs.
